PI superbike cornering school

hey

I'm contemplating going to PI for the conering school, just to help get the confidence up and learn how to coner properly.

What are your thoughts and is it any good or do any of you have other schools i could check out, i am in vic too.

Am unsure, but do you mind if others tag along? It's something I've been considering for ages.

I've had a few mates go to the cornering schools here in Vic and NSW, I have never done a course but from what i have seen in my mates is a noticable change in there riding techniques.
Cornering without a doubt is the most difficult part of riding so any help on this subject should assist the rider, getting over your inbuilt fears to cut into a corner without brakes and at the last second is hard to say the least, on the track it's alot easier to do.

My thoughts the course damn expensive but worth every cent

yeah im happy for ay one to come along maybe we can even get a ksrc group together for the day/ week end.

It's something i really wanna do, but probably wont be able to afford it for a couple of months. I want to do a track day to get a bit of experience first too (bring on tuesday!!!)

with the ASBK Cornering Days

as I seem to recall you have not been on the bike very long...
you also looked at the HART courses???

um i didnt knkow hart did conering days, but the only courses ive done are my p plates thru MTA in dany.

HART do all sort of training from the learners permit
thru to Advanced .
for example...

"Levels 6 & 7
(For those who already ride a motorcycle or want to enjoy riding even more. Also suitable for newer rider or those returning to riding)

The riding skill required for this course isn’t as high as that for the advanced courses and probably suits newer riders who are possibly getting ready to move to a larger capacity motorcycle.

The HART Intermediate Course is a six-hour course held over one full day at our modern training complex in Tullamarine.
HART will provide you with a Honda CB250’s or CB600 Hornet to use during the course .

What will be covered during the course?
All courses address practical motorcycling skills such as straight line braking, corner braking, counter steering or swerving, throttle control, slow speed riding and exercises which combine different issues within the one exercise. Other components such as a slalom course which aims to improve cornering lines, eye direction and riding posture are included in these fun and progressive courses. All of the HART higher level rider training courses are designed to improve your confidence and safety for use everyday as a motorcyclist on the road."

i just had a peek at the site and it looks ok and the simulator is a good idea, so ill see how mrmina goes then ill have a proper look

Had a chat to Andy from the Superbike school. He fixed up my foot rubbing problem (adjusted gear selector height) and followed me in the last session for a couple of laps. Said I was fast, but abit awkward on a couple of corners, better on others, and it would def help with my consistency and corner, and in term lap times. (1min 56sec in the last session).. I'm thinking I really wanna do this, as I haven't been riding for 2 years yet.. But $400 is alot of money.. I will prob sit back and see what evolves here, and if I can find some spare cash I'll join in, but I may go for another track day first.

The feedback i've had from people that have done both, tells me its a cornering day at the island.

HART is ok for commuters supposidley, but not for a weekend thrasher.

i did the HART course ...intermediate level..about 8 years ago
as I had never had any tuition since getting my licence
and i found it good (although in those days you used your own bike)
most of the time you spent getting the body position and head in the
right spot for the corner....and were taught where to look
at speeds up to 60-70

I would do the ASBK school next having done HART
but
for someone (especially new on a bike) who has never had a class
and wants to improve..the HART one would be good

have to crawl before you walk.....
