KRudd's broadband plan

Post by waynemorgan »

Hi everybody,

In yesterday's news was an article about PM Rudd announcing that the federal government is going to create it's own national broadband communitcations network. My question is - will this also allow the government to implement it's network filtering? Are we destined to be forced into a position whereby our internet connections are going to have a filter applied whether we like it or not?

What are the chances?

Something to think about.

Cheers,
Wayne :D

it came back, one of the key promises for kruddy's election was a net filter. the difference is he promised an optional filter, but they are planning on a 2 level filter, mandatory which can block some nasty stuff along with anything they dont like (miscategorised, abortion, euthenasia, etc) as well as the adult filter

fun huh?

From what I read it was goint to take 8 years to impliment and be 10 times faster than now. In 8 years time that will be slow and no one wil use it anyway.

how can they predict it will be 10 times faster in 8 years ? do they have a special tool to work that out ? or is the special tool some computer "expert" ?
Plus the way that technology moves i would expect it to be at least 50x faster than now!
ZX-2R '88 -> ZX636 '06 -> ZX-9R '99 -> ZX-10R '04 -> Z1000 '03 -> ZX-10R '04 -> ZX-10R '08

What they are saying is that it will be faster than it is now.... You know... Like the train from Geelong to Melbourne.
