melting Instrument cluster

Post by mfzx6r »

Has anyone else had the plastic melt or disform on their gauges ??

I looked at Dans on the weekend and I know Rossi's pissed off about his.
They both have doubleBubble iridium screens as do I ,but mines fine, anyone else ?? Is it the different screens or does it happen on the stock screen too ??

I've heard of an instance of this, but never seen it. I have a double bubble that doesn't seem to be causing any problems...but it's tinted to the point of being almost black.

Yep I've heard of this happening with stock screens, best thing to do is get a tinted screen and don't park in direct sunlight (which is never a good idea anyway).
Motorcycle's are inherently unstable...

Mine has melted. They melt because the sun enters the double bubble through the creased part of the screen which intensifies the heat.

I went and priced a replacement cluster cover, and at $200 I'll just put up with the crappy melted plastic!

Yep. Got a tinted bubble screen and it melted the cluster from being in the sun while I was riding seeing as I park in the loading bay at work and a garage at home. :(

The crazy thing is ........
I got a dubble bubble iridium screen which is dark by nature and I discovered purely by chance that it isn't when the sun is in front of the bike like you'd expect but when the sun is behind the bike ,
It seems to hit the edge of the screen and reflects down onto the clocks
