Damn my stature

Post by HappyPants1029 »

Okay so now I'm starting to have a serious look at a few bikes. After asking you guys a few questions and doing some research I've found the the best bike for me would be the ZXR250, because I'm 180cm tall I think the biggest 250 would be best otherwise I'll look like I'm riding a pocket bike. But I've gathered that the CBR250RR is a very similar bike. Although I'd much rather the ninja I hear that the CBR has a much more comfortable seat and riding position (which can help confidence). I also hear that riding the ninja for a few hours will result in a very sore backside. So honestly ignoring this is a Kawasaki forum, which bike would be better? also considering I can get a good deal on a CBR in my state whereas with the ninja I'd have to travel. Also at this very moment I cant find a single ZXR250 in SA.
Go ninjas!

Go out and ride both and make your own mind up. Everyone is built differently and some will find one position comfortable while others will not.

Mate to be honest i would stay clear of the grey import bikes like the 2 you have mentioned, I have owned a CBR250RR & they are pocket rockets but should something go wrong they will cost a bomb to fix (some parts not available in aus) not to mention the fact that most would have had a hard life here & possibly in its former life in the orient  go zzr , zxr & you cant go wrong

As far as comfort goes both the ZXR250 and the CBR250 were not built for comfort. They are about the same. If you are 180cm tall you would be better off with the ZZR250. It has more leg room, more comfortable seat and a better reach to the bars. You may lose a bit of top speed but there is a better chance of finding better examples for sale. For the same price of a poor ZXR or CBR you can get a good ZZR. Parts are easier to find and will not be as expensive. The ZZR was around almost unchanged for about 15 years so there are plenty of spares for when you drop it. :kuda: :kuda:

Why not get yourself a LAMS bike or even a chook chaser would be more suited to a taller type person...

what he said, im 174cm tall and i test rode a cbr250 for someone a year or two back, my KNEE'S were banging into the fairings when i sat snug against the tank, and i am not a tall or long legged person, if anything my legs are an inch or two too short for my bodylength  and i was more cramped on that bike than i have been on any gpx or zzr250, in fact it felt more cramped than a cbr125, of for the fact the seating position was less relaxed than the 125.

Just go and sit on some bikes that your thinking of buying. You can research the 'internet' as long as you want, for other opinions on the comfort but you don't know their body type, build, how they sit on it etc

I doubt the ZXR250 would be any better for comfort than a CBR250, they're both designed for 160cm boy racers, If you worried about how big you look on a bike, then maybe a LAMS cruiser might be the go.

I don't think you need to worry about looking 'big' on a bike... those monkey bikes are surprisingly comfortable. :kuda:

40-55km/h stock, then anywhere up to 120km/h or so for modified ones. $$$$s though.

I wish I had your stature as mine is the opposite and I can't find anything normal-sized that I can touch the ground from when riding.

My Hornet has been lowered approx 15-20mm and it's fine....now....but if my legs were about 50mm longer I'd be a happier man.
