No low beam, high beam no probs??

Post by Cube »

Need assistance to fix this rather simple problem, the low beam light is not working however the high beam is. The fuse is ok but the low beam is in the blink. Can you advice on a fix apart from the obvious replace the bulb or bulbs. If it is really that simple, how do I remove the bulbs from bike?

The Supp Manual I have does not provide any guidance on this issue.

Thanks heaps, Steve

I think it could be a busted low beam filament, in which case you need to remove the shrouding around the instrument cluster and reach inside. It may be easier if you pull one of the side fairings off so you can see what you are doing. Ive taken it out before so i can sort of make my way around there by feeling around.

You shouldn't need to pull the top fairing off, but if you really cant see it or get it out, may be a last resort.

Is the filament the whole light or only partial? Can it be bought from a Kwaka shop or any speed shop or as the third reply suggests the whole light component?

its like a standard car headlight filament mate, just replace the whole thing, costs like $10 - $20 depending on what you get and where you get it from. Suggest a bike shop like Aitlkens or MCA

Edit: the filament is the metal coil inside the bulb, there are usually 2 inside the bulb, one for low and the other for high beam

The outcome is the bulb was broken. Kawasaki in Ipswich replaced the bulb for an all up price of $12 installed.

Thanks guys.
