ball park service costs

Post by Madness »

Hi guys,

Well I have finally racked up 5000kms on my bike since I bought it (17500km total). I need to put it in for a service?? (is that what ya call it with bikes?? lol)

What are the estimated costs for this sort of stuff? Working out whether I wait till payday or will be able to sneek it in beforehand.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Lisa

I used to ask these kinds of questions and wonder why people never gave a real answer. Maybe some other guys will be able to tell you but from my experience:

If you take it to dealer, they'll do the oil and filter and maybe air filter at the 18,000 minor and so you'd be looking around the $100-$150 mark (based on Brissy prices). They'll do the above and send you on your way.

I find when I take it to my mechanic he tends to quote me "under $250". Simply because if the brake lines need bleeding, he'll do it, if something else needs doing, he'll do it as well as changing the oil, filter and air filter and putting full synthetic in the Rex.

I've never really had a minor service cost more than $200, so that's the best info I can give you.

usually $90 per hour plus parts from most Kawa dealers. You wont need plugs, seals, shims or alike at 5K so should be under $250. Cost me $300 for mnor service on the 10r but it uses full synthetic.

thanks everyone. I will ring them up and ask an estimated price for it. Just wasn't sure about the price not having ever sent one in for it before.

Cheers
