What's the difference?

Post by HappyPants1029 »

I know here it is another bloody newbie question but you guys advised me against a zx2r because of the price and repair costs and such. but I've found some really nice and well priced zxr250's and i looked them up on youtube and some of them sound so damn nice! so whats the difference between the zx2r and the zxr250?

hmmmm...are we talking zxr250 A .....and/or zxr250 C ..........or the updated twin now out an about...(twin not four)

fours are old twin is just as old............... but built new and has nice 21 century fairings (plus a few other upgrades) :P :)

get an old one cheap anything (but on this forum would suggest kawasaki) if you can and learn...........falls over if your ok no probs.........new one falls over .......the excess may kill you

lots a choices out there phone a friend and start looking

the new bike is the ninja 250r, i didn't think that they were advertising it as the zx2r, if they are, then some sales drones need their teeth kicked in. The old 4 cyl bike (A or C, for this exercise they are both the same thing) is the zxr250 which some guys at one of the grey import mobs (sumoto is the main one that comes to mind) decided they could (not should) be relabelled to zx2r to keep in line with the zx6r, zx7r, zx9r and zx10r.

Another way to reduce confusion is if it's a 250 and there's 2 cylinders then there were official imports and parts should be relatively easy, if there are 4 cylinders then they were only ever imported as second hand "Grey imports", which can be a pain in the arse to insure, to get parts for, and to get people to service them (they seem to be scared of them, something to do with the challenge of getting parts IF required i suspect).
