Vibration / Rattle on the Rex !! HELP !!

Post by Blue14 »

Hey people, the ZRX has an annoying vibrating / rattle sound coming up from front of bike somewhere at around 3.5 - 4k in the rev range. I have checked everything i possibly can. Anybody had this problem or heard of anyone with this problem.

Its driving me nuts and i have to fix it..

Thanks, Paul. :D

is it coming from the bikini fairing. put a strip of tape where the inner piece joins to the fairing at each side.
see if this fixes the problem

Had a very similar rattle on my rex just last weekend, but only occured for a very limited rpm range ie 4000 +/- 50 rpm. Turned out to be the speedo cable retaining nut on the back of the cluster. Only figured that one out when the speedo dropped out on the way home from our ride on the weekend

Mate, start at the bottom of the fork legs and work your way up. I had a buzz at 2900-3200 like TC above and it was the fairing inner rubbing the inside of the fairing. A clean and reassemly with a tiny bit of black silastic fixed it. :!: hello2.gif Ooh, Ooh, also, at higher revs, the radiator shroud-mounts can buzz and it sound like its coming from the front. I took the four small washer-spacers out (the ones that line the rubber grommets) and shortened them by about 0.5 mill or so and screwed them back in with a little vaseline to help the neoprene out: buzz gone! :kuda:

Mine does the exact same thing and I've never been able to find what causes it.

Hope that helps

Lucky for you I've got a sense of humor or I could have taken you seriously and written something courageous and scary and threatening.

Oh yeah blue 14,try the screen on the bikini fairing, mine used to vibrate at about 4000 revs so I locktited the screws and it has never come loose again. Don't use a permanent locktight.

My rattle is around the radiator.
When I reach down & hold it it stops.
My new can has arrived so I will be having a working bee in the shed during the week.
Fix rattle, fit can & chop rear guard.... :D

I second this motion...
I just did the same & it fixed it a treat.
