Damo.
If you have a clean record then try to fight it with a letter first. Admit you were speeding but ask for it to be cancelled. I have faught a speeding fine after admitting fault and still go off. It is worth a shot and you have nothing to lose.
Remember, half the people you know are below average.

Bugger Damo...

On the positive side, you can get into those $2 beers on Friday nights and not have to worry about driving home... :kuda:

Sorry to hear Damon - it sucks, but sounds like you've taken it on the chin.

Unfortunately, like the rest of us fined in the Putty BBQ, he doesn't anymore - so it's unlikely to work.

30+ over the limit in Vic and $600 & 3 months would seem nice.

30+ in Vic is hooning = large fine, 6 months walking and you car/bike impounded + extra $$ to get it back out of the compound.

I was quoted on Monday by a kind victorian plice officer that 40 over was $400odd plus 3 months suspension. so not sure which one is right Mike but lucky for me I dont need to find out.

From what i gather it's a discretionary thing that the copper can use as either a feather or a sledgehammer.

I know 45 over is 12 months , 8 points and Real hassle to get insurance , but it makes time for improvements

i know the piece of road you are talking about. i drive it regularly
it is stupid that it is an 80 zone anyway.
it used to always be a 100 zone but somehow it became leathal so for our own protection it had to be reduced to 80.

I would be appealing it if i was you.
there is no street lights in that area, there is an overtaking lane, its in a rural setting etc etc it would be easy for anyone who is not a local to mistake that section of road for a 100kph zone

That's exactly what happened, just seemed like the rest of the 100 zone and I thought 'yeah I'm over but only by a bit', then he dropped the bomb, its 80!!

As you say 3 hrs of boring as batshit 100 zone and then bang, can piss you off a little.

Had a word with Stenberg today and he reckons he could get it reduced without too much effort, the Neg Drive comes off in April, if I wait until the reminder comes through the post,, should be about then, send it over to him, he will contact the plod in question. Explain the situation and feel the water.

Lidar have a 2kph allowance which brings me down to 32, if we plead the decent drive record with no speeding offences, the circumstances, effects of loss of license blah blah, may have a slim chance of reduction to 15-30, 3 points and a lesser fine.

He was actually quite suprised he hadn't reduced being so close anyway, must have been having a bad morning

I'm thinking it could be worth a punt.

I reckon i can guess the guy who stung you.
he doesnt go easy on anyone. we all live in fear of him....

Stenberg wrote about a similar case in his column in rapid mag ages ago.
guy on a bike done for 120 in an 80 zone - charged with 40 over.
stenberg got it reduced to 20 over using the argument that it would be natural to assume that the area the guy got caught was a 100 zone cause it was not a residential area and there was no street lights etc.

good luck with it.

A delightful chap who gets nothing but joy from going to a known poorly/incorrectly signed area and waiting to fuck random people over as they come barreling through.
