hey all, just wanted to say that i'll be outta your "hair" for a week or so (depending on blizzards and stuff ) while i am doing the "Overland Track" in central Tasmania. It'll take us approx. 5 days from Cradle Mountain to Lake Saint Claire.....
we go this friday, hopefully back by next friday!
anyone else done it (advice?!)!?
i'll take pics.....
"hut to hut"..... nah, that is for the honda poofs! we are doing our own thing, carrying all of our own gear and camping the right way, the whole way......
uh, and from someone who has never camped, and uh has a "sportsbike-back", it's gunna be a blast!
I've done the Overland Track four times. If you're in a group you'll have a blast. Main thing to be prepared for is all types of weather conditions. It can get quite hot one day, then sub-zero the next. Make sure you've got good quality outdoor gear, good boots and you've got your pack fitted properly to suit your back.
There's also a LOT of snakes in summer, though I'm not sure if this year's been a hot summer in Tassi. You might get lucky. They sit all over the walking paths and don't even bother to move when you step over them.
