Z1000 Seat Cowl - Dumb Question...
G'day,
Dumb question I know but I am having a nightmare trying to get the seat cowl off the rear of my '03 Z1000 so I can throw the rear pad on and take passengers.
The bike came with it on and it never occurred to me to remove it until I needed to just recently.
I look through the wee gap on the leading bottom left side of the cowl and I can see a 5mm diameter bar going upward aross the view through the gap at 45 degrees or thereabouts. I have pushed down, up, forwards backwards left and right but the bar appears to be solid and part of the sub frame.
I have had needle nose pliers on it everything and no movement.
The cowl itself moves about on its wee dampers no worries, but won't let go of the bike for love nor money!
Any idea's for a dumb Z owner?

put key in under the tail section,(there's a hole underneath) it's on the left side, click, and the back will pop up..
Putting it back on, front first, hook it under, then push the back down.
(yep I know any chance for a pic of my bike

No prob, just make sure when you put it back on that it's sitting in properly.. they have a tendency to fly off otherwise, the gap needs to be small and even all the way around, easiest way to tell
Nice pic of a z and a farm implement

Re: Z1000 Seat Cowl - Dumb Question...
Cheers guys.
I've been riding a BUell for the last couple of years so I'm really enjoying being back on a four, especially one with a bit of go in it.
It seems to like the corners as well.
What more could you ask for?
