Vic police motorcycle training

Post by mick_dundee »

In order for police to gain a bit more awareness of motorbikes and how they operate, Vic police are to receive basic motorcycle training, this is being paid for out of the "safety" levy.

See here http://www.mravic.org.au/forum/modules/ ... 0&forum=10

I've been strongly opposed not to the trainig but the fact it's coming out of the levy so thought i'd slap a poll up and see who agrees with me.

I'd like this thread really to be voted on by Vic riders only as it doesn't affect any other state really.

thanks.

I'd rather it not come out of the levy. I'd rather see the levy used for things like motorcycle black spots and road improvements. Oh, and getting rid of those WRB's!

Although training vic motorbike police might assist with safety for motorbikes during some operations its not solely what they do, is it? surely its not right that our money is being used to train people who do things like spend alot of thier time enforcing all sorts of road users, escorting v.i.p.s, (i don't dont know all their duties but would like to know more). Shouldn't it be focused on projects that are 100% motorbike orientated?

is it training motorcycle cops or giving ordinary coppers exposure to riding? seems to be the latter from the mra thingy.

It is the latter, sorry if I didn't make that clear and I guess subject title is a little ambiguous.
