Re: The Mutant's coming home
Dave should not have to pay 1 cent for his bike to get back to Sydney......
They took it knowing that his from Sydney..... for 2 days of Phillip Island under the suspicious circumstances that the frame had been reborn???
Which is ok.... But if the frame is not stolen they should pay for the shipping to get it back to a inoccent party in this.....
Dave already has lost out on 2 days at the Island which he has travelled 12 farkin hours for....
So fark them!!!!!!!! They should pay
Cheers
Thien

Re: The Mutant's coming home
Being there at the time & listening to some of the the bull this DET was dishing out ie NO FRAMES CAN BE BOUGHT INTO THE COUNTRY WITHOUT A NUMBER..... PFFFT a BEARS racer was there the day before with a KTM frame imported with no number thats one DET that needs to do his homework
....information supplied by the BEARS club president the day Daves bike was taken away.

Re: The Mutant's coming home
I reckon just bow & scrape to the Pig if he's being a prick but record & document all your conversations with him, get the bike back & THEN go the arsehole for everything you can, (I stress that is only if the cop is being a cnut for no apparent reason other than the fact that he can - there are a few like that & they need to be made accountable) sue for reimbursement of all costs if you have to, you'd definately have a case.
Remember, you are 100% innocent, if they've admitted the bike is kosher then it should be clear that they wear all costs associated with returning it to you.
Years ago my Suzuki got stolen, I found it advertised in the Trading Post 18 mths later as parts, went to the Fuzz, it was a cut & dried case, I had all documentation, victim report, etc but I couldn't get my bike back because the guy who had it had bought it legit & in good faith & had a receipt, the Coppers couldn't be fucked chasing the next bloke up (they admitted that to me) so the guy got to keep my bike under some bullshit law/loophole called the Doctorin of Recent Possesion or some shit.
That law should apply to you, I HATE to say it but you really need a Lawyer here because it (the D.S.C. that you're dealing with) has the potential to turn nasty - why would he be pushing for it to be forfieted to the Crown? it doesn't make sense unless the prick is just an arsehole shitstain with some sort of grudge.
On a lighter note, I blame that bloody Groggles bloke for the whole sordid mess, I always thought he looked a bit shifty

Dave have you ever thought , Why did Groggles sell it to you so cheap ?
Why did Groggles straight after the sale do a runner up to Qld ?
Why does Groggles rarely appear on the forum ?
Why does Stace cry into his pillow every night ?
Why does Groggles now live in a Penthouse appartment and wear sunglasses at night ?
Think about it Dave

Ummmm let me see

Re: The Mutant's coming home
Billy, I'd never thought about Groggles like that before ... but now you mention it everything is becoming increasingly clear
The DSC involved isn't a bad guy, and I understand that 95% of the people he deals with probably are crooks (he probably knows that Groggles character!), it's just that he has lumped me in the same category as the crooks and seems to feel I should be punished (a few comments indicate that he believes I should have known better - even though I bought the bike site-unseen, paid market price for it, etc, etc) and he wants me to suffer as a result.
Darren, I'm really surprised to hear your story regarding the Suzi - it was made very clear to me (and my solicitor agreed it was legit) that if Vic Pol could prove the frame was stolen at any time in the past (even though at least the last 3 owners paid for it legitimately and can prove as much) that it would be returned to the rightful owner (or the owner's insurance company if it had been paid out) and I was shit out of luck. There's plenty of stories of people loosing $30-$50K cars the same way.
Thanks for all the words of support everybody, and please understand if I don't say too much at this point about my intentions once it's returned to me - apparently it's back together at this stage and I'd like to keep it that way
