BMW have entered WSBK (sorry if this is a repost)

Post by Stereo »

Its official! Thats right, BMW dont seem to be content with just having good enduro bikes they have created a Superbike (BMW S1000 RR)
The riders that have (foolishly perhaps) signed up for this is are Ruben Xaus and Troy Corser... Good luck Guys, you're gonna need it hehe

(Wow! they must be splashing serious amounts of money around! Troy ran Second last year in the WSBK, swapping to BMW guarantees he is going to drop down quite a bit in the standings)

Some good pics here: http://www.mcnews.com.au/NewsArchives/2 ... us_bmw.htm

Apparently Bayliss tested the bike and was able to lap within 2 seconds of his best time on his Ducati... Granted 2 seconds is a lot but it was also only the second time the bike had been test riden by a professional rider.

Its going to be an exciting year in WSBK this year I think...

Baylis has retired,
Corser and Xaus have moved to BMWs new bike
Biaggi has moved to Aprillia

have you been living in a hole?? :?

i think they'll do quite well.

they are very determined, and have the cash to spend. i dont think BMW would make a half assed attempt at SBK 8)

BMW will be a late arrival in the WSB season so don't expect too many podiums, i just hope Corser hasn't backed a dud (Petronas).

well i hope they do well, i reckon its exciting to see some fresh blood in the competition! Makes for a bit more of an interesting race!
For some reason though, that bike just doesnt fit in with the bold lines of overweight elderly people driving to there "clubs" and middle aged mums running everyone over in there soccer mobile SUV's

Looks like a nice bike i must say!
