Getting my Repairable Write-Off Registered

Post by tim »

Anyone got some advice about where/who to take my new ride I've fixed up to get her blue-slipped etc. (simple repairable write-off).

Also any wisdom on things to provide or prepare.

I'm in Blacktown.

Have pics of the bike before the repairs, and reciepts for all parts.

Thanks,

Tim.

ps, Yes, I brought a Speuwzuuki, I apologise. if there had of been a minimally damaged 2yo kwaka EP5 for $2.3k i would have snapped it up, but found a great GS500.

Hi Tim Complete Car Care in Seven Hills can do the blue slip, I suggest contacting the RTA to find out exactly what paperwork is required as the laws have changed reciently.

By the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Will do Rob, will probably give em a go, love a recommendation. Done some reading on the RTA site: http://rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/othe ... tml?rlid=5
Rob I assume Complete Car Car in SH is an "AUVIS" registered business.

Here's what the RTA require: (from above website)

Attend a motor registry in person and provide:
The AUVIS inspection report (blue slip)
A completed Application for Registration (the AUVIS examiner will give you this)
Proof of repairs (as presented to the AUVIS examiner)
Any other required documents (eg proof of identity, proof of acquisition, CTP insurance etc - see Get a new registration for full details)

Mate just give them a call, last time I was there was a coupple of years ago & to be honest they really did not even look at the bike just the engine & frame numbers. AUVIS= Blue slip so yes would be the answer to your question.

Interesting Ali, I had an RTA inspection done 2 weeks before chrissy & the booking was within a few days & my choice of locations & did it online :D & I had to do it twice  (farkin bus modifications)....... the extra inspection is one of the new changes made reciently by the RTA to have more control over rebirthing etc.

Hey Tim

It's a crap day in Forster so I thought I'd check in.

If complete Car Care is still owned by Paul Gilbert let him know your Chris's cousin. Paul lives around the corner from us and Chris used to do motocross with his son Zac.

Good luck with i mate . I'm looking forward to taking the beast for a blat.

Ahhh, well the computer randomly picks out blue slip applications & flags the system that you need to get that inspection done. If the bastards could get away with it, im sure they'd force every single blueslip to do that so they had more money in the kitty. But alas they make do with randomly getting people to do that.

Having to pay $420 for the pleasure too? fark, that's a kick in the nuts alright.

Thanks boys. :kuda:

Yeah ok, I'll ring up see if Paul father of Zac still owns it. I can't legally ride it there until after the 12th :? so no rush/not much point 'till then.

Be nice to go earlier but there's no way I'm going to attempt getting it onto, then off, then back on and back off the back of a trailer. 180kg is heavy for my un-initiated arms and legs - but I'm learning to be boss with it. :x

I knew fully ahead of time that there's be something around $300-$400 in "testing and checking", I suppose that's the price we pay for political economic and social systems that work... blah blah blah

As a side note I've walked it around the back and front yard getting the clutch out and coasting for a few metres then grabbing the clutch and break, lots of fun 8)

Also, turns out there's a Gypsy Joker bikie living next door. Comes in handy! When we put it through its paces for the first time he wondered over and said something about how it sounded "down-low" (revs I assume) and he thought try replacing the plugs and leads, just something simple. Dad and I didn't think so, thought it sounds and runs great, but I've got a feeling he knows what he's talking about. He did say his biker buddy inside said "nah that's just how those bikes sound and idle" so I dunno.

I'll have to listen to another GS500 and compare, and get some other wise ears to have a listen. I've got zero concerns with the engine/mechanicals, but probably would pay to have a "once over"... I do wanna do my repairs tho, learn for myself etc.

Will check maintenance schedule and see what's due at 17,000 km.

AND ANOTHER NOTE. I cleaned it from head to toe today with Car Wash, Armourall, Metal Cleaner, nail polish remover and polish it looks PERFECT. Will have to post a pic in the "my ride" area.

I'm doing up a repairable write off myself, if anyone in Brisbane could give me some tips that would be great. Nanna has seen her (helped me buy her), and i helping me fix the damage. Most of the damage is scratches on the fairings. I know they have to go through a QIS inspection which is gonna set me back $350, but could anyone point me in the direction of someone to get the RWC from?
Cheers!
They say if it has tits or wheels, it'll give you trouble. I have both...that makes me dangerous!

I'll have to lend you a copy of Mad Max 1 Tim. It's compulsory viewing around here.

Remember though baby steps. Short rides frequently around home and then progressively get further and further out.

No worries about going too fast Hoff, remember it's a Suzuki.

Now I think I have a photo at home somewhere from about 20 - 25 years ago which might explain Tims errant ways as far as motorcycle brands go....watch this space :)

No worries about going fast. Had my first ride, 40 feels like 80! There's so much more excitement in getting to 40 on a bike! Darn blinker keeps forgetting to turn itself off!

You just blew my mind Glen. In a split second it came back to me! I can remember i was about 5yo buying (or was it getting one printed.... I REMEMBER THE SMELL!!!!!!!) a yellow tshirt with a suzuki bike and big suzuki text on it BECAUSE THATS THE BIKE COOL UNCLE GLEN HAS!

Now I could be wrong but that's my memory.

I'd love to see the photo.
