ZX2R Neutral Light

Post by zx2r-kid »

hi,

my bike's neutral light does not come on even though i know the bike is in the Neutral Gear (i can push it around). the bike thinks it in gear hence if i put up the kick start the engine stops.

what could this issue be?

thanks in advance.

OK ....Firstly neutral is not a gear  if the bike is in neutral & you can push it around then a globe has gone or the neutral sensor is kaput.
Now you say if you put up the stand (or was that down) the engine cuts out do you mean when you let the clutch out it stalls? this could be the sidestand cut out switch (also runs a circuit to the clutch) that can be replaced or short circuit by joining the wires at the sidestand (not recomended) hope this makes sense :D

Oh and welcome to the club :D

Foor for thought, you may be able to find a sidestand switch from another bike that fits. Just bring the current one down and go through the box of sidestand related bits.

it was a pain to change one 14mm screw (neutral switch). took a massive 6 hours job as i don't have the right tool (requires a 14mm socket and very very thin socket handle like a 1/4 inch). its in such a tight spot that you cannot use a socket converter from the 3/8 to 1/4.

finally with a bit of luck and mega frustration, got it off with a tiny adjustable spanner and its all good now. straight onto my other bike as i was way too stress.
