Ahhh well it was bound to happen...
got pulled over back in September for 83 in a 60 zone, thought nothing of it really, nice chunky fine and 3 points....
boy was i wrong... ended up being 4 points out of the 4 i have on my P's
so yesterday i get a letter in the mail telling me that i was suspended for 3 months

Strange thing is that the letter goes on to say that my P1 license is suspended, and not my C class....so does this mean i can drive while my P1 is suspended?

another thing that pisses me off is that this pushes the date when i can get my full license back 3 months


oh well, Hoff, Rob, make some room on that bus!

thats a real bummer especially since the new 08 6r's are selling for 11500+ on roads

Hey Blurr where did you get your info from Mate.
I think you will find you loose one you loose both because it all comes under 1 license.
I to am SUSPENDED till 20th April . Lost both car and bike.
Regardless how you loose it whether it be instant or accumulation of points.

So MrWasabi ring the RTA first mate. Drive your car and you will be driving whilst suspended that will land you in hot water
for sure your 3 months may turn into 1 year.
You p's will go onto your Car license from then.

devo, are you on your P's or fully licenced (rider)?

If you are on your P's as a RIDER but on your full C class licence then your riders licence is suspended but your C class is still active. Provided that you have'nt accrued anymore than the 4 points you are allowed on your P's. ALL P plate speeding offences cop 3 months suspension no matter what the range.

IF, however, your are a fully licenced rider AND a fully licenced driver then the offence affects BOTH licence classes. Because MrWasabi's offence would usually only require he lose 3 points and $243(?) if he were fully licenced, then it would be unfair to apply the P plate rules to his full C class licence also, if that makes sense? I went thru this just recently with my licence, EXACTLY the same situation and i was fine to drive but i wasn't allowed the fun stuff. Confusing to say the least!!!
Oh, and just in case your wondering where i got my info, 1st- i rang the RTA info line, 2nd- i spoke to a solicitor, and 3rd- i went to the RTA themselves and they confirmed the first 2 sources for me. Plus it's in writing in the letter they sent you

I think you should check the rules before questioning others mate!!!

if you have 12 demerits available on your fulls and only 4 on your P's. Loosing 4 points on your MC licence counts against your car licence but does not disquailfy you from driving if you have points in the bank.

However I do agree you should always ring the RTA to check!

Thanks for clearing that up guys. And Myk, the letter i got states that my P1 license is suspended and then it goes on to say that "You may not DRIVE for the period of 3 months"
which made it a little confusing...
But ill give them a ring tomorrow and have it all confirmed to be safe...last thing i need is to be suspended for a year

I wasn't questioning anything in the way you think Mate ( hmmm I think I rocked the applecart a wee bit) , I was asking where you got your info because I was almost gonna call the RTA and see if I could still drive.
MrW I have my full license lost one lost both.
I lost my bike P"s back in the early 80's had my full car lisence and I had to hand in both for three months , things must have changed then since I was a Lad.( I have always wanted to use that expression )

dont worry mate, the buses are air conditioned and they cost f-all conpared to running a bike..
