Ninja 250 Fuel Injected

Gday, I wasn't sure where to post this so what the hell. I currently have a ZZR250 and was thinking of buying a ninja 250, however, I am a little put out by the fact they are still carburettor whereas in europe and Japan they are fuel injected - strange that most of the companies are now bringing out 250 dirt bikes in fuel injected. I have done a web search but cannot find any information on how to obtain a fuel injected ninja 250, any assistance would be appreciated - Kawasaki sadly to say wasn't a lot of help.

If the Australian model is not injected then you probably won't get one. Some grey import companies bring bikes like the ZX2 into the country but as the Ninja 250 is not only a new model but also available through Kawasaki Aust there will be little chance of a grey importer bringing them in. I would have thought that with the emmissions regulations that most new bikes would be injected to assist with more effective fuel burn. I don't understand why Kawasaki would make the same bike with and without injection. It would be easier to produce which ever was the better option to keep production costs down.

the us model was made carby to keep costs down... they didnt want the ninja 250 to be any more expensive than the old ninja 250 (gpx t ous...

Yeah, apparently it is all about costs, keeping the price down for us poor people in Australia - personally I would rather spend an extra few dollars and gwet the efi. Apparently they meet the pollution standards etc as carbe models but juding by what I get on the ZZR250 (29km/Litre) and what the new CBR125 efi gets (40km/litre) (I know it is a smaller bike) I reckon it would be a step in the right direction. I don't suppose it is possible to import a bike by myself?

Sure can be done. Buy the bike (overseas) and then find a company to pack and post the thing for you. The hard part is getting it registered. That would be a real bitch.

i am very sure you will not be allowed to import it and road registered it.
Same rules for bikes would apply to cars. Because the 250R is sold here, the government so they can get there $$ cut wants u to buy the local model.

Take the S7 RX7, that was sold locally by mazda and its banned to import. Same with a few others cars.

Why not just buy the bike, then buy the EFI and all the parts. Or otherwise why not just buy a shit 250, learn on it then buy a bigger CC bikes which is EFI ?

why do u want efi?? the bike runs fine anyways, and meets emission standards... see i not where problem is there?? :lol:

oh and it will easily get 30km/l.... like your ZZR, and you're right the CBR is a lot smaller bike, so comparing it is like comparing the fuel economy of a 4L engine to a 2 L engine,

the CBR doesnt get better economy because of EFI, its gets better fuel economy because its engine is half the size...

infact for direct engine size, the CBR has worse fuel economy, but then i know and you know that comparison is bollocks, beacuse the CBR has to work harder to get going...

Saki, I have a 2005 ZZR250, not a "shit bike" by any means and for my 70kg plenty of power - yes I would like a 650 but then the fuel consumption would be up around 20km/Litre (so I have been told) and the green slip will be around $400 instead of $150. The only time I feel undergunned is when the wife is on the back.

Only reason I wanted the efi is I assume they would be heaps more efficient then the same in the carbe, also should be more reliable?

Wouldn't necessarily be that much more fuel efficient if it's tuned well and serviced regularly. And as for reliable, carbies have a few moving parts but very little of that electrical shenanigans, which is all well and good unless you let the smoke out of the wiring.

If you are getting 400 km out of a tank on the little ZZR then you realy have nothing to complain about.

If the cost of fuel consumption on a motorbike is THAT big a concern, I reckon get yaself a pushbike, seriously!! I get around 300k's out of a 16 litre tank, sometimes a little more sometimes a little less, still shitloads cheaper than my car petrol wise and I fill it with PULP too where as the car gets bog standard ULP...
