Thinking about selling the 250

Post by h8_rice »

Hi all.
Well as you all know I started out with my wee little ZXR250 (C model)
I have since bought the ZX9, and now with a kid on the way, and maybe having to move, I am getting rid of what I don't use, and wont have time to finish, or take with me.

The 250 has all the bits there to bring it back to stock it just needs the plastics fixed (some cracks) painted and fitted.
kicked in the guts and off it goes. (iv only hung the fairings on for the pics) the sides are plastic, the top fairing is fibreglass.

I don't have ANY time to do this at the moment. So I am considering selling it as is. Iv had it on the road for the last 8 or so months with a headlight and indicator setup on the front but havn't ridden it since I started having cooling issues (now fixed)

What can I expect to get for it in this condition? Ideally I would like to have it as a complete bike as its still registered til march next year. But if I sell it now it won't have a RWC. and wont fetch nearly as much as I'd like.
I'm also contemplating keeping it as a spare bike. seeing as though all my cars seem to be junk heaps! - BUT - I'm also up for $1000+ for a crank and rods for the Torana so I'v got to get the money sorted asap! (goin round in circles here)

It was picked up with the side fairings smashed off, and the forks bent, I had dave kellit strip it, double triple check and straighten EVERYTHING and anything, forks rebuilt, new steering head bearings, the head has come off due to the previously mentioned cooling problem, been machined and ready to start her up. (I'll do this on the weekend to make sure)

It runs fine, and feels fine on the road, It is NOT a written off bike. Everything is there to bolt it back to stock (minus some bolts/clips I'll try to dig up) the frame work cost me $1000, fairings cost me just under $600 - the head work $400 and new clocks $140 and so on. IT has barely been ridden, I have the original clocks which have 29,000k's the new having 33,000k's
I believe they are the original k's as the last owner had the bike sitting for a number of years (brother took the bike without asking and dropped it !)

If anyone is interested, or reckons they can talk some sense into me and get this finished let me know.
I really don't want to sell it cause of sentimental value but the mrs has me by the u know whats and I'v been getting rid of everything. I also could never decide on what colour to paint it so I'd rather someone with a bit of vision who wanted a cheap bike to muck around with bought it and painted it how they please.

Oh and it also has air horns (handy and amusing) and comes with a tinted visor, the rear seat needs doing, and I have a semi finished fibgrlass cowel made - its registered as a single seater so I just popped a piece of black plastic in where the seat should be. I have not tried to fit the headlight, but its there.
