'09 Z1000 - Got it!

Post by esie »

I took out a new Z1000 today for a test ride. Oh my god! To quote The Buzzcocks this bike causes one to become an "orgasm addict"!

The bike is sex on wheels. It's very different to my '04 Z750, responsive throttle, low down power, good brakes, MUCH improved suspension & different riding position. It felt as though I was more a part of the bike, rather than feeling like I am on top of it, as I am with my Z. I think it is the same height as my Z750, but I think that the seat is more narrow, and possibly the tank is a little higher. This did make it a little harder to lie down over the tank and stretch out ie when in the twisties. I noticed that it still had the strong vibration at 5-6000 rev range (that's not so bad in the seat, I suppose) ;) I spose about the only similar thing to my Z is that they both turn on a dime.

I also want to take out an FZ1 (I know, I know, a Yammy, but what the hey!), Jeff had an '05 FZ1 which was really nice to ride, so I am interested in taking the new one out to compare.

Wonder when you'll be hearing Jeff with another Buzzcocks quote "What do I get oh oh What do I get"

Gotta love the Buzzcocks

happy7.gif Buzzcocks rule, OK! headbang.gif
Jeff is wondering why I have decided I get a new bike, and he doesn't, especially when there are 2 x retaining walls that need replacing!

I was eyeing off the orange and black scheme, it's as horny as! The white and silver reminds me too much of a Buell.
Cheers,
Anne

So....we took out the FZ1 and the Z1000 yesterday. Jeff rode one, I rode the other, and then we swapped. The FZ1 probably felt more stable with a lower centre of gravity, and it was nice coasting along on it. I was thinking, "oh, this is great to ride!"....and then I got back on the Z1000, and the grin was all over my face! The brakes on the FZ1 were extremely responsive, and always have been. Our '04 model FZ1 also had extremely responsive brakes, as a friend found out the hard way. The Z1000 is certainly a little less responsive in braking, the suspension is probably not as good, and as with pretty much all Zeds, has a distinct vibration through the body at about 5,500-6,500 revs.

Decisions, decisions...
Cheers,
Anne

Easy decision Anne, buy the Yammie & i'll do a late night Suspension set up for you  ......... then while your waiting for the insurance pay out & i,m being slowly murdered by Ipswich Base. You can borrow "Miss Hansen* (My Crim).

i am unsure if all the facts on that site are true tho, i know it says a 55 rear for the profile of the tyre but i dont think that is correct, perhaps it is!
