Post by Disco »

Hey guy's,
Just a quick question...I was lucky and got my licence a while ago the easy way (being over 30)and was discussing with my brother about him going for his as he is over 30 as well and was telling him about not being able to pillionfor 12 months, when i looked on the back of my licence under conditions it is blank :? .I thought that you couldn't pillion for 12months?Do they usually print it there?.........Cheers Dave....

Thats correct. despite the fact that you have a full license, you cant pillion anyone until you have had it for 12 months.

Just because you are over 30 doesnt mean you know how to ride...just means that they trust you more than anyone under 30...

which is bull shit, I have a gold licence no "recent fines" and i'm still stuck on a 250 for 12months, yes i know its to stop people from going out and killing themselves on a bigger bike, but a 2fiddy can still get up to speed an just aslikley to kill yourself if you really want to.I recon it should be on how long you have been on the road, test score, and driver history{fines & crashers} Or maybe even just 6month p's.

again, just because you can drive a car doesn't mean you can ride a bike...
12 months is there to get you used to riding. Then you can do what ever you want to do.

yes a 250 can get up to speed, but what it can do on 6th redlining it, a thou can do in first...

i do agree on the 6 month P's tho...maybe at the 6th month you can go for another competency test and you can get a full license earlier...that would be nice...as some learn faster than others.

Fwiw most states now have LAMS bikes which means you're not necessarily limited to a 250, sure the bikes that aren't 250cc wouldn't pull Ponti off your mum but regardless they're an option...

You can kill yourself on any bike, but what you get on a bigger bike is that the corners comes up alot quicker! which unexpirence rider just get himself into alot of trouble..

They just think ppl over thirty should have more commonsence then to speed and do stupid things..... and how wrong they are
