Re: What would you like Kawasaki to do.?
i agree mike all those things would be awesome... but we need to make sure its a 50 50 gain, we need all those things before we give them everything they want,
and quite frankly i dont know that kawasaki could get laid in a brothel with a fist full of hundreds...

Re: What would you like Kawasaki to do.?
We get:
1. Exclusive ride day of new release models - maybe a mix of road and circuit (similar to press days).
2. Free pit access walk-throughs at MotoGP and SBK.
They get:
1. What we already do - promote Kawasaki's better than HO do !

Re: What would you like Kawasaki to do.?
I think we need to ask ourselves, what help do we need at big events from anyone? We seem to do a pretty good job of promoting both us and Kawasaki as it stands, with the giant Kuda and green plastered everywhere. So what can they do that we don't already do?
The only thing i can think of is branding KSRC with "Official Supporter of Kawasaki", that would put us ahead of any other enthusiast groups and maybe make some people look twice at that big green marque on top of the hill and think, "hey, they aren't just another enthusiast group...".
Since we are already die hard fans and we piss and shit green (yes i should get that checked), they are getting a lot of free PR. So maybe the questions should be turned back on to the and ask, what can you offer our members for all the die hard dedication to your brand?
my 2 cents...

Re: What would you like Kawasaki to do.?
Just to straighten this out a bit. Kawasaki did not suggest this and did not approach us.
John Phelan owner of Mornington Kawasaki (KSRC Sponsor) approached them and told them about us. He has asked them if they would like to get involved and help us out.
He told me has going to talk to them about us a while back, I suggested it would be a waste as they have pretty much ignored us for the last 9 years. Anyway John believed there had been some changes in management and attitude and he would see what they thought.
So far all the has happened is, Kawasaki have said they would be interested in supporting us at events and have asked what we would suggest for them to be able to do that.
Simple as that, so theres no need for any conspiracy therories its just a start to a possible discussion.

Do they have anything that we need?
Most of us are here because we like Kawasaki motorcycles, I personally give no fark for the company that makes them - anymore than I am enamoured by the company that makes my favourite sliced bread.
Does some suit in the marketing department think we are showing them up?
its gotta be a winner for both (and that means we..KSRC dont get screwed)
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

However, what we should see is:
- World supers and GP; a meet and greet with the riders would not be hard to organise.
- Aus suppers, pre/post race pit access, meet the riders, maybe even a bit of speel from a rider about track riding technique or getting into racing/training for races.
- Aus riders to show up on off season trackdays/ride days

Re: What do you want Kawasaki to do.?
I agree on these, with some co branding to for both KSRC and Kawasaki. We will then display them at all the race meetings and other public events (bike displays etc).javaman wrote:This could benefit both parties (Kawasaki and KSRC):

- Nice stickers
- HUGE kawasaki banners
I don't think that Kawasaki should be forking out to kit out our entire membership. Having said that I wouldn't mind a little Kawasaki merch for when I am racing or a little extra support in my racing endeavours.

Numbers and enthusiasm for starters I reckon.Daisy wrote:I must be just a cynic.

Need probably not, but for sure some support for the team that shows up at Turn 1 every year for both supers and gp would not be unreasonable to expect I reckon especially given the results Kawasaki provide... ie 10th or further back more often than not...Daisy wrote:Do they have anything that we need?
Some free merchandise, a tour of the pits, riders coming out to meet us or indeed KSRC given a privtae audience with the riders, not talking a day here but perhaps a half hour somewhere after the race is run and won is again not too unreasonable I reckon.

Re: What would you like Kawasaki to do.?
Might be a long shot but ... depends what sort of support it turns out they want to give us.
Maybe one of their graphic designers could re-jig the front page (ksrc-au.com) and then some members of their marketing team could be given access to post (exclusive?) news stories and such?.
PIT visits after the racing are also a great idea.

Re: What would you like Kawasaki to do.?
If there keen at supporting us at the Supers and GP, then maybe just to provide a Huge Kawasaki Green Tent, some green stubbie holders, a couple of flags etc etc... Just help paint the place green without hurting their own budget. Its promo for them and could potentially be something that PI becomes known for when the big events visit Australia??? It would be a small cost to them but the advertising / promotion they get from us walking around bright green and can be seen from a distance is priceless...

Re: What would you like Kawasaki to do.?
Ideally I'd love to see something like the "Ducati Experience" at trackdays, but on a smaller scale (we don't need the semi-trailer race transporter on the MotoGP replica bike, although it would be cool
). A trailer with a few spare bits and pieces, maybe a mechanic or a factory rider for advice/help/setup/gas bagging, some demo bikes, advertising, etc and our own reserved tripe garage at EC. I know it's a long shot, but with trackdays becoming more and more popular Kawasaki would do well to sell some of their bikes to track riders, and I think 30+ KSRC people at the track next week is as good an advertisement for riding Kwakas at the track as they're ever likely to see. Add some "factory" support to that and people would have to consider a Kwaka, surely.
I'd also support some sort of sponsorship (cheap parts / tech support / etc) for people racing Kwakas at a grass-roots level like Mitch and Paul - I'm not talking about a paid factory ride, just a bit of help in return for getting the brand out their.
