Z1000 airbox mod Q
Hey guys,
Well my BMC turned up today so install that now. However i wanted to do the airbox mod while its all apart. I have a downloaded map which i intend on getting run on the dyno and having a custom one made so that no issue.
Anyway, if i do the airbox mod with the new filter is it going to send the whole thing a bit crazy with too much air, as in will i need to get it tuned right away or will it pretty much be ok as is.
Basically wat i am ask is, should i hack it up now and chuck it together with the expectation that it iwll be of benefit, or should i wait when it comes closer to the date of getting it run on the dyno to have the custom map because it will cause problems before hand ?

Re: Z1000 airbox mod Q
Depends on how serious the mod to the airbox is and how the bike is stock/with your PC3 now i.e. lean or rich. i.e. if its a bit rich now it would even things out. But if it's already lean then it will worsen the situation. In the end it won't be crazy different, but will probably have a fluffy effect to the throttle if you get it wrong, so not as crisp as what it might currently be. Unless it's reversible or you know the effect it will have, I'd probably wait until the custom mapping.

if your just "elongating" the hole, it wont make a huge difference.
if your cutting whole hood off then yeah wait. (also could catch a lot of water if you bike gets rained on).

Was that your loud and offensive Z that went through Granton just before 9 last Sunday? With a small black package on the back?

Heading to Symmons maybe? I was waiting at the Lyell Highway intersection for the crew going to Ross. 3 bikes went through and I thought the third one looked like yours. Sounded hawt - whoever it was.

Go here,http://www.powercommander.comdeafwish wrote:Hey Saki,

In hte middle of the page there is a few drop down menus for brand, make and year. Then it should have a list with all the setups.
I have aftermarket air filter, Yoshi TRS and PC3, there was a map i could download and install on the PC3 for that setup. Its good as a temp setup as i plan on getting a custom map!
If u need help, swing me a pm and i will help out!
