zzr 250 rear indicators

Post by rooster89 »

Hey guys. My 99 zzr250 has two spots on either side of the rear fairings for indicators that are filled in with a blanker cover. It has two bug eye indicators instead. Are indicators available for the holes in the fairing?

In short, the indicator lens are still there but they've been painted over. You can strip the paint and use the integrated indicators but it's not entirely legal. There should be a few articles here on doing it if you need more assistance.

and as far as i am aware you would need to reroute the wiring back in to the lens assembly.

I was wondering the same the other day.
Is it hard to strip the paint off?

The wiring part would be easy.

the rewiring is easy, the hard part will be coming up with a bracket that will hold the bulb in the new lenses and stripping the paint.

get some sand paper, fine, and then another one which is even finer.
and yet a finer one still, until the paper feels like its just that...paper.

Start with the coarsest until you have the paint off, then move to a finer grain and so on. until its all rubbed off. I would use wet paper.
Then if you can, spray it with a clear coat and that should be it.

to be honest i have thought about doing it, but for the amount of time im going to have this bike for and the amount of effort it is to do it...i dont think its worth it.
Rather spend that time and effort looking for an upgrade.

On the other hand you could just buy the indicators without the paint on them. last time i checked they were $50, but i cant remember if it was the pair or each.
I got the quotes from findapart.com.au

I think you'll find it's illegal. Your indicators must be a certain distance apart and I'd suggest that the integrated lenses don't meet ADR's, which is why the other ones have been installed.

Just my opinion on it as I thought the same as you when we got ours.
