So does this make me a collector?

Post by Daisy »

I've rescued another mistreated ZZR.

I think I'm gonna need some plastics.

This almighty barge is for HM. I'm quite happy on a 600- but then again I might have to learn to be pillion again. ;)

More pics here,
here,
and here.

Its a shame all the bits of the dash surround aren't there. I already welded up the front section around the instruments. The right side lower is also repairable, but I'll have to find a front upper and complete tail. The dents in the tank will buff out. :D That rim isn't anywhere near as bad as it looks in that pic.
Whatever it takes will be worth it - its a 99 model with 12,548km on it.
It has been sitting around at the auction warehouse for more than six months and when we got it home we put some fuel in it and replaced the lid on the clutch cylinder and it went up to the back shed under its own power. Didn't even have to charge the battery.

Your not going to spray this one pink, are you? ARE YOU?

p.s. only 12kkm, and she has already powered up & moved under her own steam, even if there's some mechanical work required, thats a fantastic bonus!

There is evidence of previous repairs - which may explain why the insurance company wanted so much for it - but the only real damage apart from plastics, is the clip on, the front rim and a twist in the rear subframe. We will prop it up on a flat floor and run a string and a tape over it to be sure. There were a couple of odd things, namely the banjo fittings on the clutch and the oil cooler. I don't know why they would have been loose, but a nip with a spanner fixed that. ;)

I'll make a wanted thread with the parts I know we need.

Well I've been a busy shopper. So far I've got the tail plastics and indicators, one mirror, a screen, the clip on, the filler panel around the tank - with lids, and a C model top fairing to chop up for repairs to the brown one.
I have also welded up the right hand fairing and started sticking the upper back together.

Parts required: Front right indicator, left mirror, the V section of the lower fairing and the heat? shield that goes inside the lowers. Not long now. :D

I can't believe there are this many pieces!

If HM hadn't got his heart set on red, it would be getting a coat of clear over this.
