That was an interesting read Adrian, I've always wondered what those retro Ducati's were like. Looks like I made the right decision in going retro with the z650....it's got the looks and is great to ride

Harsh review maybe but I want to give credit to the dealership. Melbourne City Ducati were those that I liberated a demo ride from and I am very appreciative of their efforts. Very easy to deal with and no pretentiousness that I kind of expected. Particularly since I turned up during the week in my scruffy work gear and ask to ride one of their bikes. There are far worse dealers out there flogging much worse bikes. I am considering *maybe* a monster but undecided as to whether its my cup of tea - have heard good and bad about them.
Have been wondering if it was just me but I would be interested to see if someone else could go ride one of these and prove me wrong......maybe the one I rode was a bad egg??? That sounds desperate doesn't it? I really want to like it but....

To top it off though, as far as customer service goes this is excellent, I received a Tshirt in the mail today proclaiming myself to be a Ducati test pilot and a customer service survey asking my opinion. How many other dealerships / Marques would do that. I feel like I am now part of the famiglia!

bit exxy to get a good one of these........a couple of the Laverda guys were at the recent Dyno day - In Search Of The Perfect Corner ?? or something like that - is their website. Worth a look.

Z900 ? too common mate , and not 'quirky' enough.

Why don't you just get a good J model waterbottle, bang some nice chrome spannies on it.....and ride it for the next 20 years with no more than good 2-stroke oil in the tank and the waft of Castrol R filling your nostrils every morning ??? They are a fantastic classic, reliable, plenty of 'quirk' factor, and not *that* expensive (relatively speaking). You could probably get a really good example for <$10k.
