Remembrance day
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning.
We shall remember them.
And in the morning.
We shall remember them.

Re: Remembrance day
My patient on Tues the 11th was a fellow in his 70's. He was brought down to ICU on the previous Friday night (I happened to have him that night, as well) from the ward with acute pulmonary oedema and was extremely confused and combatative. Within an hour of admission to ICU he was intubated and ventilated, and was extubated on Tuesday morning about 9:30hrs. He was still weak, a little breathless, and somewhat confused and bewildered on Tuesday morning. I had the radio on for him, and at 11am when the Last Post was played on the radio, he struggled to sit upright (refusing my help), saluted, and I watched a tear roll down his cheek as he sat at attention. I was extremely moved, that no matter how sick and confused this chap was, he still remembered and respected his comrades.
Lest we forget.
Lest we forget.
Cheers,
Anne
