ZX9 exhaust on Z1000
Hey guys, new to the forum and ride a blue '06 Z1000. I've read a little about putting a ZX9 4 into 1 system onto the 03-06 Z's with a little modifying (re the shock bolt and shortening the mid pipe) but I can't seem to find the year models that do and don't fit. Does anyone know what model ZX9 exhaust fit and what ones don't. Also any info on what years to avoid due to poor flow and less power would also help.
From what I have read so far the 01-03 fit best, but I wouldn't mind knowing what other options there are if earlier model systems come up cheap. Were any or all stainless? And a stupid noob question for anyone who might happen to know just to save me ringing around, how much would you expect to pay for one?

Welcome to the forums nelso & what a fine bike you have!
I can't recall the best model year of ZX9 exhaust that fits, but maybe this website can help?

Not much to show as it's pretty standard still. Just a tail tidy, indicators and seat cowl so far, but more to come starting with some bar end mirrors and then the exhaust.

Jeff has a custom job on his '03 Z1000 exhaust, an IXIL undertail double exhaust.

Re: ZX9 exhaust on Z1000
Bit of an update. I picked up a second hand 4 into 1 Micron from Z1000 (thanks again Chris) and fitted it a little while ago. Needless to say it sounds and looks much better. It's hard to say if performance has improved that much but the air-box , filter and powercommander mods will definitely sort that out.
