ANYONE WATCH CRASH INVESTIGATION LAST NIGHT?

Post by Che »

I was watching Crash Investigation on TV last night where an Italian student riding his 600 Kawasaki Ninja was run over by a truck in Cleveland Street, Redfern. He apparently stopped in the left lane at a red light next to the truck in lane 2 towing a dog trailer, which was going to make a left turn. The motorcycle was slow in turning and the truck made the turn across his path with a truck wheel knocking the motorcycle to the roadway and inturn the motorcyclist was run over and killed by the dog trailer. Warning to motorcyclists not to get yourself in such a position on the roadway and give a good leeway to turning lenghthy vehicles and be quicker off the mark.

Yes watched the show... it was interesting that the truck had no brake lights & the front indicator on that side was not working... FFS just charge the barstage
it was his vehicle that was unroadworthy at the time. I cant believe they let him off................... RIP kwaka 9 dude

Hang on a sec

They were lane sharing or did the truck turn in across two lanes, what was cross street?

RIP to the rider!

No the truck was turning from the centre lane as it is allowed to do in NSW...the truck not having working indicators didn't help the motorcyclist.

I cant believe the truck driver did not stop at the scene... I am sure he is lying about not knowing & some crap about stopping up the road to check his mirror is real suss....

Anyway bring on more shows ... the keeper knows someone on the show & there is also an ex patrol chick that I know from Blacktown station that is now working in the unit, hopefully se gets a prominent role 8)

Not disputing the fact that trucks can effect a turn using two lanes, thats a given. Just trying to get a picture in my head of where it could have happened.

Very scary indeed. Especially when the forensic team said "we're looking for evidence. blood or brain matter" :(. I did not watch it till finish, did they actually let go of the guy? So who is reponsible for driving trucks with no indicator and brake lights?

RIP to the motorcyclist.

FARK

I know we have to look out for almost everything on the road but surely there has to be some accountability from the other driver?

Bike was a 98 Zx9 I thnk you'll find, same as what I ride. All fine to say yeah charge the bloke etc etc but reality is it's just a waste of time and taxpayer money if there isn't the evidence to convict the bloke. Crash investigation crew do their shit, interviews etc and when it boils down it's all "probable" that said truck was directly responsible for riders death but in Australia, innocent until PROVEN guilty, not enough evidence to prove what happened so bloke gets off.

well the safest thing for us motorcyclists is to avoid those big rigs at all times regardless of the circumstances.

period.

its just not worth getting squashed to save maybe 1 or 2 mins.
or to get to the front of the line for a quick getaway.

and the thing is half the time they just cant see us on our bikes, they have a huge truck and we have a little bike in comparison & we just have to take it apon ourselves to treat every truck like they cannot see us.
prevension is the best way to stay alive i think.

and besides its hard enough on the roads as it is.

I thought it was a nine  & mick you are right about lack of evidence, but it still sux that no charges could be laid... the 9 rider is dead & it was a hit & run :?

All a fair call but if indeed the indicator on the truck wasn't working at the time then the rider has a reasonable expectation said truck isn't turning, alas for him ti was and he's now dead :(

but would you take the chance and assume he is not turning.

when you have absolutly no control over that truck.
