Stolen bike !
Stolen bike !
Hi all,
Just a quick bite. My mate had his 06 Yamaha R6 stolen this afternoon. A character came around for a test ride and did not return. Precautions were taken in the way of rego number of the car in which he arrived in with his mate and also kept a hold of this characters mobile phone while on a "test ride". Long storey short car drove off just 2 minutes after rider took off and rego check with police came up with stolen plates. The bike is black with no decals on the fairings as these have been painted black, also all matt finish items have been painted gloss black, tire hugger upper fairing infill panels etc. If anyone sees a bike similiar in the Logan city area of Brisbane please drop me a message.
So yeah there are plenty of drop kicks out there, so if selling take caution in who takes your prized posession for a ride.
Cheers

Re: Stolen bike !
That blows chunks, good luck to your mate, but i must agree, no license, no bikey. At the very least even a fake license with a matching picture gives the cops a face for them to track down, or you to post on forums for vigilantes to hunt down, but i really didn't type that last bit out, i just thought it.
p.s. slightly o/t but I think it's a bunch of crap with insurance when they refuse to cover drive-off testrides as you gave the thief the keys, even though you believed that they had the intention to go around the block or so AND COME BACK. I guess that's where a GPS tracking device is a worthwhile investment, even for your own peace of mind (just keep it in a box in the garage until you want to try selling the bike, then in it goes... and out again when the bikes sold
, though that's just dreaming again i guess).

Re: Stolen bike !
Just a word of advice. Not only should you ask to hold their licence whilst they go for a ride, but Id also hang on to a couple of other forms of ID as well. Credit cards etc. I had a prang and swapped licence details with someone. The licence was not legit as they had access to a stolen licencing machine from weeks earlier!!! Be Careful

Re: Stolen bike !
A license would have been the best idea. Apparently this chap did not bring it "how convenient" but left his mobile as insurance, but oddly enough it was also reported stolen. Thanks all for your inputs.

I agree, hold on Licence, a Credit card, and take a picture of the guy and your bike with your camera phone before they take off!!

Re: Stolen bike !
Ive just sold my 7R privately and am a Logan City resident. Had a joker ring just after the ad went up who asked what I would need to let him test ride. "Drivers Liscence and keys to vehicle you come in" in was what I told him. Never fronted
which at the time I thought was weird coz if he was even half serious neither of those conditions are hard. Probobly same arsehole
I was looking at buying a Gixxer in Melbourne 3 years back, found one that suited made a call and got the address down
the Penisula, turned up at the address (a bloody Police Station
)found young plod owner/seller looked over the bike out the back in the cop carpark, and hit him up for a testride. My $35 000 car sat in Police Station Carpark, Photo Liscence were offered as ransom but still no go
Hope the Yam turns up and the buggers do time.
