Can you turn me GREEN again ??!!

Post by Kwakka Kilt »

Hey Guys.

I have been away for a while from the KSRC forum, I turned a bit mad and sold my ZXR250, and bought a ... I cant say it .... A HYOSUNG !

I fancied a newer bike, and a V Twin one, to see what it felt like to ride compared to the high revving Kwakka 250.

The Hyosung cost me $3000 AUD as a repairable write off, only 17 months old now.

Did quite a few mods, it's pretty cool for the cash spent.

Anyway, I get my Full License in November, so I am thinking of buying a late 90's ZX7R.

What do you guys think of the bike, I think it seems like an old school (Larger) sportsbike, heavy ish by todays standards, but with a totally planted front end, I think it looks the business still

Either the ZX7R, or a late 90's 900rr fireblade.......

Pro's and Cons ?

Cheers.

a hooooooonda?!?!?! What the hell.... such language on this site! :D

if you're considering a 900cc.... why not a ZX9R!?!??! 98,99 and 00 models are available at great prices, plus lighter than the ZX7R, but i must agree with you, I like the aggressive look of the 7's front fairing. However I've owned ZX9's since 98. LOVE 'EM!

if your a sea captain and want a Barge, then get the ZX7R! ---- flame on!

do your homework and read plenty of unbiased reviews

you could also try a coughhhh gixer cough

if your coming off a v-twin, try a suzuki TLR1000 (would flatten a 7) (that is only if your hyosung was a 650! if it was a 250, you might wanna check out a 600ish bike before a thou)

yes kawas are nice, but there are lots of nice bikes out there,

obviously theres mucho mucho bias here, :P

Ha Ha LOL !! :D

I love this forum, thanks geezas, course I knew the results would be "Biased" ..... :D

Interesting, I never really considered the ZX9, I think because it doesn't have the sharp looks of the ZXR750 ZX7R, but so many people here own and run the ZX9 daily for all purposes - Commuting, Scratching, Touring ..... Is this true, is the 9 really that good of an all rounder ?

So I have as far as I can see, 2 votes for the ZX7R, more for the ZX9, and a mention / nod towards the Gixxxxxer

I must admit I thought a SRAD model GSXR750 would be pretty good, it's a injected bike, which other bikes the same year for the price does not posses, but every Buggers got one.....

Looks wise, I love the ZX7R, but the comment about it being a barge worries me, I want a flickable bike, I am only 5 foot 8, my old ZXR250 was sweet for ergos, (Funnily enough), so if the ZX9 is lighter than the ZX7, that's a plus point.

I like sharp / racy styled bikes, and the ZX9 front looks a bit bland to me, the ZX7 has the cool old school Superbike look to it.

Gotta live with the bike daily though, as I commute Mon-Fri in all weathers, I could get really Shi**y with the ZX7 as a commuter I reckon ??

im 176cm so bout 5'10 and bout 72kg and i dont seem to have a prob throwing it round. i dont go motogp mad but i can certainly have fun and keep it well on the tail of a mate on his 06 cbr600rr. yes it may be heavier i cant understand why really, but after coming off of a cruiser you might find this to your advantage.

But as a starter i would consider going around to your bike shops and sitting on the bike like you would at traffic lights so that you can test the seat height difference as you may find that some bikes will be more suited to your frame. This cant be told by saying which brand is better, its all in how you feel when you sit on it. If it feels nice and it rides nice compare it to a couple others. and go for what represents value for your money, comfortability, previous maintenance and last but not least the appeal of the whole package to you. dont want to have a top bike that you think is just plain ugly or a shit hot bike that breaks down all the time.

buy smart, have fun :) and pick the one you want not what your mates like.
