I hope Pitty is not badly affected by this - he had *nowhere* to go as Craig hit the deck right in front of him.....

brought back some memories of a young Wayne Gardner hitting Franco Uncini back in 1983.... :( I guess Franco eventually recovered.

:(
Wasn't Franco the guy that crawled straight into the path of Wayne and sent him into a couple of 360 degree spins, if it is the same person he was killed instantly I thought.

Franco went into a coma after the accident... but recovered, he even competed in the '84 season but retired after the '85 season.

It is so sad to lose a very respected and young member of any community. Craig Jones will be missed by not only his family, friends, team and fellow racers but also the many fans he had in his very short career. After looking at several interviews he conducted he was a good ambassador to his sport and a credit to his upbringing. My condolences go to his family and friends and also to Andrew Pit who would be feeling the pain probably more than most. I hope this does not affect Andrews career and more importantly his state of well being.
It is a very sad and unfortunate accident that no sport needs. RIP Craig Jones.

just watched the clip on youtube and it sent shivers up my spine. just the way he slid across the track.

There was nothing that could have been dome by Pitt or Craig. just an unexpected accident that took a great rider.

I watched the race live & replayed the crash over about 20 times with the IQ box just after it happened.
Looks like Pitt's tyre only brushed Craigs' helmet & it was the fork that hit him.
Needless to say it looked bad & allthough it didn't come as a shock, it's was still upsetting to know he didn't pull through.

R.I.P. Craig,
condolances to family and friends.
Watched the race 2 days after it happened not knowing or heard anything about the accident, was shocked to see it happen and found it profound that it wasn't played back at all........now I understand why , very sad
