Re: Casey a sore LOSER?????
I thought the race was good not dirty, the passing was aggressive but not dangerous IMO. Some of the races these days are just becoming borefests. I was disappointed that Casey didn't shake Rossi's hand after the race that's just unsportsmanlike behaviour. The pass Rossi did on the corkscrew was okay with me.
Casey was beaten by a better rider and he should have acknowledged that, not shaking hands and crying later on.
I hope we get more races like this.

Re: Casey a sore LOSER?????
I think it was the best race for ages with plenty of mongrel about it. Sure Casey was pissed at the end but any of them would have been. He'd worked his arse off and his own admitted mistake cost him the spot. He was proabaly as shitty at himself as he was at Rossi. He didn't stick his arms around him and give him a cuddle but that's cool, they'll get over it, can't wait for the next race.
Good on 'em both I reckon...

Re: Casey a sore LOSER?????
I cant people are now justifying Rossi's move a OK because he only minorly left track. A race track has borders to designate the route that must be taken. I you leave it the that cheating no matter how ballsy the move is. You dont see driver cutting out the chase at Bathurst.
Dont get me wrong I loved the race and glad to see the fight back in a race but what Rossi did was cheating plan and simple. Skill is riding on line and making it hard for the rider behind you have them alter there line to get around you, not just have them cut the corner because it easier.

I don't know that he would have deliberately gone for the dirt though. I reckon he probably just went in way too hard, had a bit of an Oh shit moment and went up the inside rather than ploughing up the back of Stoner.

he did stuff it up the inside.... he did over cook it and he did decide to dodge casey and to do so he also left the track... none of this is bad until he made a positional gain from the move... you see it in formla 1 and indy car all the time (especially at the gold coast)... guys come down a straight.. dive under brakes.... stuff it up, shoot throught the chicane and rejoin the race often infront of the bloke who they were trying to pass...
u also hear commentators stating that the drivers should redress the situation otherwise they get black flagged... because it is illegal to shorten the course(ie cutting a chicane) and gain a position from it...
and yes it did take unbelievable skill to hold the bike upright, but he should not have been allowed to maintain the position because he gained an advantage from shortening the track...
i personally think he should have been black flagged for the incident with gibbersook in spain all those years ago... he came in way too hot there and used gibersook and his brakes.... a move like that in formula 1 on the last corner for the lead of the reace would have surely seen a black flag.... cos in that moment... rossi had no other intention than of using gibersook to get round the corner....
rant over....

Re: Casey a sore LOSER?????
Well thank god Moto GP doesn't have the same rules as Formula 1 then.... perhaps thats why F1 is so boring..
If anyone thinks Rossi intentionaly cut the corner to gain a position, you have rocks in your head.. This isn't a trip up the putty and overcooking a corner and having plenty of room to correct, these guys are at 10 10ths and I'm sure he would have rather stayed on the track.. This is racing not tiddlly winks.
If Stoner didn't like the way Rossi was riding, he should have sat behind him and waited for the last few laps, how many times have we seen Rossi do that.. It was obvious Rossi had to push harder to stay with Stoner, so I would think his tyres and stamina wouldn't have lasted as well as Stoner's...
All that aside, I feel sorry for Stoner and yes some of the moves were a little tight, the corkscrew one in particular.. Ppl make mistakes especially at the level these guys are riding and Rossi stuffed it up.. Yes he could have let Stoner back in front... but he doesn't have too.....
Soooooo the mature sensible thing to do, is suck it up and learn from the experience.
I did when an out of control Paddo, moving from 16th to 3rd in one overtaking move ran me of in turn 2 at the BS meeting at the creek. I shook his hand after the race, had a laugh about it and beat him in the next race.
I'm a Stoner fan but it may be better if he said nothing as all the talk is about what he said, as everyone luved the racing. If he said nothing we'd all just be saying "wow what a great race".
Lets not make it like F1..
no one crashed (in any of the overtaking), they didn't even touch..
You can't have it both ways, close racing is always going to be risky and someone won't like it... and thats usually the one that comes of 2nd best....
Do you guys complain about fights in the footy, I'm sure you don't cause its good to watch.!! bring back the biff.!
All's fair in luv, war and Motorcycle racing...

i dont think that all the bad over taking moves were made by rossi... since when does some1 try and over take on the outside and not expect to get pushed wide!

i didnt say that.... of course rossi would have preferred to stay on the track...If anyone thinks Rossi intentionaly cut the corner to gain a position, you have rocks in your head..
but he gained an advantage from cutting a chicane.... simple as that...

It was either that or take both of em out... He was little TOO commited to the move wasn't he..

BTW, It was suggested previously..

Re: Casey a sore LOSER?????
What a sensational race! Both riders made errors which was bound to happen racing as incredibly hard as these 2 were. Stoners comments were basically his honest thoughts on the race itself, which is the simple question the riders are asked by the press. All 3 riders were all smiles and handshakes at the podium presentation too by the way.
I hope the rest of the season has plenty more action like Laguna did!!

Re: Casey a sore LOSER?????
its great to to 2 Aussies on the podium thogh. I have never raced bikes but Im sure there is some racing etiquette (sp) which rossi must have crossed, otherwise stoner would of not said boo, and it was a very little boo. But if he also wasnt kicking himself so much for his own mistake he may not have said anything. But what a great race, hope to see more of that.

Re: Casey a sore LOSER?????
Except for Biaggi, all the main contagonists in the Rossi era have been respected by or Good mates of Rossi's.
Capirossi (his hero), Gibba sook (bestbud till the Broom incident), Melandri (best bud after sook), He doesn't even mind Heydon. He always spoke Highly of Casey in all the seasons prior too motogp & continued too, even to this day. Even Edwards has found a second lease of life after following Rossi for 2 years.
Whats this mean, It's all about Monkey see monkey do really, Rossi would drag his mates around through practice & qualifying which would get them UP to Pace for each track/conditions. It wasn't blatantly done but he would tolerate some riders more then others which certainly benefitted them & likewise their mates. How many times would we see him sit up when Biaggi or gibbasook were close after coming out of the pits ...plenty.
For Casey to be able to set up & RIDE the Ducati shows that he is of Rossi's ilk. Rossi always new that he would be a threat but liked him anyway. The current bikes are more set up & less rider, brought on by all the electronic whizbangamees. I have to say M Doohan did bugger all for 2 years on the 500cc smoker why can we say HI SIDE. Where as the 250 guys this year like Lorenzo & Dovisiosa have been on the pace straight away.
So whats all this dribble about Rossi wants to WIN in 08. He's on the best bike with the best tyres with the best Spannermen so if he doesn't he'll look bad. Like Pitty in the supersports really.
I think the way Rossi rode was awe inspiring, the pass around the outside just before casey's run off was INSANE, it shows he trusts Casey enough to push THAT hard and that he will have the room to get away with it. Casey was always faster but Rossi won the race. If that aint Balls with a touch of genius I dont know what is.
Casey will WIN the championship & deserves too. The Ducati was a pig & NOW it's just a Dog.
