Re: Trouble with the Gixxer
Do not use the injector cleaner if the bike is still in warranty as it gives the stealerships another "out" to avoid a claim.
Only operate as per the Suzuki owners manual.
If it throws up an Idiot light during normal riding its a warranty claim, stand your ground with the dealers and ask plenty of Questions

Re: Trouble with the Gixxer
Ok, BM went into the shop yesterday. They hooked her up to the puter which told them that the butterfly valve in the exhaust was sticking.
(Gotta be clever to be a bike mechanic, especially seeing as the other two thousand Gixxers with the same problem didn't give it away.)
Their fix was to lube the cable (a better solution than to disconnect things which was their quick fix to the same problem with my friends Gixxer.)
Went for a spirited ride this morning- no warning lights. I am thinking though that this will only rectify the problem temporarily. 6000km service due in a couple of weeks, so if it starts playing up again I'll get them to look at it again.
The other recommendation was to put a Micron on it.
(See, you really do have to be clever to be a bike mechanic!

Re: Trouble with the Gixxer
The only solution for this is to remove the valve in the exhaust.
You can post about this and that for the next decade, but this is a known issue worldwide with gixxer 600's and it isn't going awawy until you remove it.
The paayable solution is to get them to ream out the bearing location as this is what expands under heat causing the valve to stick, but most dealers do not wish to do this as it costs them money.
There is about 4 zillion pages of data on this subject on gixxerplanet forums and all data to date backs removing it as it is a barely noticeable difference to performance once removed.
If you want the best advice..dyno the bike as is, then dyno it after removing the cables at the valve and the figures will tell you the story as to what to do.
Best of luck Wendy.

Re: Trouble with the Gixxer
everyone removes the butterfly valve wires when they install aftermarket cans right? I certainly did.
So whats the problem with removing the wires to it and leaving the stock pipe on ?
seems like the easiest fix ??
