We already received a "Safe Motorcycling" thingy in the mail a while back...

As far as QLD goes, i thought it was loud pipes and incorrect swingarm to mudguard angles that killed people.

Nah, nah Dave! Where have you been?? We all know that cylindrical rego holders kill QLD motorcyclists!

ha ha ha... glad to see everyone was as pissed as I was about this. I was spitting and swearing. I can not believe the bastards would send this type of shit out when everyday I see cage drivers on the phone, doing make up while driving, failing to give way etc.. oh and I get to see drunk drivers regularly too!
This is insulting. I have had 3 motorcycle accidents in the last 11 years, none before that...I’ve been a licensed motorbike rider since 1991. The Police informed me ALL of the accidents where not rider error or fault)

1st: a 60yo in his company car, right outside Police headquarters on Feb 97, cleaned me up. I did a great impersonation of Superman. Straight over my handlebars, his roof and onto the, oh so forgiving (NOT!!!) road. He got out, looked at me and said something… I was pretty dazed, couldn't understand him... hopped back into his car and tried to leave... 4 or 5 cops stopped him apparently and then charged him with trying to leave the scene of an accident & performing an illegal manoeuvre (he turned from left from the right hand lane). Cops tell me, he asked if I was all right... when I didn't answer he figured that meant i was and tried to leave.

2nd: Nov 1998... 120ms from my old home... 60zone... cruising along. Next thing I'm flying through the air and landing hard on some poor guys driveway (turns out to be a fellow motorcyclist and a witness). I was taken to hospital with some minor injuries. The witness tells the cops he hears a loud shriek of metal twisting & snapping etc and then sees me flying through the air. Kawasaki inspects the bike, tell me my gearbox was faulty and replace it free of charge with a 99 model (apparently they knew of this problem)

3rd: This is classic... driving in peak hour traffic. 18-23yo girl (sooo much driving experience...) decided she's going to... kid you not. Talk on her mobile phone and do her make up at the same time. She then some how puts her left indicator on, pulls to the left of the road. So I start to move around her right.. it is peak hour.. sooo slow and don't want to hold people up... but all of a sudden she pulls back out... still with left indicator on (cant turn it off when doing make up and chatting on phone)... i ride into the front guard.. Slam my poor crown jewels into my beautiful 9's tank (now I love my back as much as anyone... but it I loved it that much I would have preferred to use the exhaust ;) )... Guess who was behind me... i love my life sometimes... a Det with CIB in an unmarked car… hell I didn't even see him... So when all 3 of us pull off the road.. she starts trying to make excuses. Det tells her it would be best for her to remain quiet and that he had seen her talking and doing make up and then pull out etc.... She got a few points and lots of $$$$ in fines.

So after all that... I'm still the problem and a risk to myself, my family and of course everyone else on the road. I'll admit... I speed, sometimes; i won’t lie... on motorways and highways when it's clear. I never do it thru 60zones or of course school zones... How ever I don't drink, so cant drink drive... I DO NOT do drugs, ever! I'm always trying to put my bike on the right place on the road so the driver of the killing machine in front of me can see me in her/his mirrors, like I can see then through their own mirrors. I've voluntarily completed numerous rider training and driver training courses over several years to improve my skills and get rid of bad habits. Yet to the government I am the problem.

It's funny this letter came when it did. Only a few days early my wife told me she thinks we should move to a country in Europe... she's not sure where, she’s thinking South of France or northern Italy, she even suggested Denmark, somewhere where Adults are not treated like 10 year olds by the government, somewhere where the government isn't trying to protect us from ourselves and somewhere... god love her... where they have great motorcycling roads and appreciate motorbikes. She is sick of the over taxing, the lies about how this will benefit us and make Australia a better place to live etc. So when she saw this brochure sent to me about me being a danger to everyone... (Considering I am a Prison Officer for 10yrs, I supposedly protect people… but on my bike I am a danger)… it was the straw that broke my wife’s back… she informs me to get ready to sell our 5 acre block and house, our cars and bikes... and move north, way north… then we can buy anew in our new country. Hmmmmmmmm

Onya BrisZX9R, They need to be reminded that we are not all reckless inexperienced wheelie popping hoons...

Just like everything else, the retarded minority ruin it for the rest of us. The government is doing nothing else than covering their arses but being seen to do "something"...

They don't care... If they did anything properly it would impact on the revenues collected by the Police, and they can't afford to find that sort of funding elsewhere.

Ditching Q-ride is the first smart thing they've done in a while.

it's not so much the brochure made me want to leave... we have been talking about it for awhile getting more and more fed up with how our government treats us. This just helped make up our minds.
