Choices choices......

Post by tyreshredder »

Well its finally time to upgrade, and hopefully ill be coming back from the dark side and onto a kwakka :D The probelm im having atm is that even though i can afford to buy and full comp insure my ideal bike (03-04 ZX-6R), my parents will not let me buy it because they think the insurance cost is too high.... Im looking at around $7.5-8k for an 03 zx-6r and 1k to insure it for the 1st and 2nd years, and then down to $850 for the 3rd year. However, they would prefer me to spend $8k on an say an SV650, because the insurance is only $650.....i completly disagree because if i get a bike like an SV650 i will be bored within 6 months, they're more expensive off the bat, and they just aren't up to the standard of a ninja. So any suggestions on how to turn them around? And since ive gotta look at lower insurance bike, what are ppls opnions on the following bikes?:

- Z750: id prefer a faired bike but i have a soft spot for the zeddy, but is the seating position as sporty as a zx6r?
- CBR600F4i: I really like the later F4is, with FI, good looks, decent power and equipment its one of my favs
- older zx6rs: in comparsion to the later models, what are say the 00-02 models like?

Basically what im looking for is a mid-sized sportsbike, preferably with FI, with a decent amount of power and good quality suspension, so any suggestions and opnions are welcome :D thanks guys

Welcome back to Fold ... hopefully mate.

The 03-04 6r (barra) is a pretty good bike for a Trackie, i'd recommend having a look for the last of the "Alien 6's" like the red with chequers 02 model. Absolutely awesome bike for all round "juciness". they are Stable, nimble & have great Ergo's, riding position.
Insurance should be the same as the SV which are'nt a bad bike for a twin.
Any of the CBR6's after the F4 seperate seats are like riding a park bench with a slot car engine strapped to it.

The fact that insurance is the biggest concern says you should be fine even on the Zeddy7, which are great around town btw.

I agree with Ponti, the ZX has the most potential but the Z can be blinged to a high standard too.

Just because you can ride, doesnt mean you should. My reason on this earth is an example to others what NOT to do.

I like Z750's i have personally owned a ZX6R (06) and i loved it, now on the 10R i still talk about how nice the 6R is.
I have never ridden a Z750 but i reckon they are a very nice lookin bike and come out in some very fancy eye catching colours!

From the sounds of it, the bikes on the list are a little more laid back than your hardcore racer. Maybe the F4 would be a good choice if u want a laid back sports bike!
Then again it is a HonHon!!
