Anyone seen the photos yet?
I wouldn't be suprised if the photos are doing the rounds already. It's not every day you see a Police bike upside down on the footpath!!
On my way to work, enter a roundabout that I've been through a million times, and whooooops, front end tucks. Tried to save it but no amount of input at the bars has any effect. Bike and rider slide along the road. Lucky not to be taken out by the other cars. Bike hits the gutter and rolls upside down onto the footpath.
Once I'd gotten up and dusted myself off I looked at the road. The intersection was covered in oil! At first I thought it was diesel and I can tell you, it was DAMNED slippery!!
Once my mates rolled up and we cleaned up the mess (bike will probably be written off) we followed the oil trail. It went for about 2 km!! We eventually located some fucker in a clapped out Gemini. He was in the process of refilling his motor with oil. He'd emptied a 5 litre container into it and was pouring a second container in. Instead of thinking that it might not be safe to drive it on the road because of the oil leak, he obviously thought he'd just fill it up every time it ran out of oil.
Fortunately I'm not too hurt. Sore neck and side.
Be careful out there people. The moronic cage drivers are out to get all of us and even the most highly trained of us come unstuck!

now Jason, surely as a member of "the force" you know that speed is a major contributing factor in 90% of accidents!!you must always drive to the conditions, and never exceed your own limits.
driving on oil constitutes exceeding your limits!!
glad you're ok, but i must admit i am looking forward to seeing a photo of a cop bike upside down
btw, you guys have the right to take an idiots licence away for doing blatantly stupid shit like that right? that guy is an obvious dum schmuck and i wouldnt wanna be around him when he's driving thats for sure...

Re: Anyone seen the photos yet?
Good to hear you're OK mate. Make sure you get those injuries checked out, and maybe have a day or two off as well to be safe
Not to be cynical, but if you weren't a cop and/or were in QLD you'd be getting a ticket for that. A mate received a ticket for lowsiding on some fine & basically invisible sandy gravel on the road.
Cops showed and wrote him up for "failure to maintain full control of vehicle - motorcycle" (were originally going to do him for "drive without due care and attention") despite a witness saying he was UNDER the speed limit and riding sensibly, that he suffered expensive damage to his pride & joy which wasn't insured, wrecked all his gear and was laid up for a week with the injuries.
Their response was that you should operate your vehicle in such a manner that if any hazard on the road is encountered you should still be able to maintain full control of the vehicle. Which I'm sure is technically true but anyone with half a brain would apply discretion/common sense in such a case. So he was already out of pocket a week's pay (casual) and a good few grand in riding gear and damage to the bike and they wrote him up. Pack of carnts.
I hope the right thing is done in this case, and the Gemini driver scores various fines & defects.
Oh, and pics or it didn't happen
