BLUES legend Steve Mortimer has issued a call to arms for fans to get behind NSW and be at ANZ Stadium tonight.

In an embarrassing performance by NSW sport fans, tickets are still available for tonight's State of Origin decider.

As of last night, 76,000 tickets had been sold, with thousands of seats at the 83,000-capacity ANZ Stadium still available.

It was confirmed that Queenslanders had purchased 40,000 of the available tickets.

Mortimer believes the non sell-out casts doubt on Sydney's claim to be Australia's sporting capital.

"Sydney is the gateway to Australia, not Melbourne or Brisbane," Mortimer said.

"But we have to be able to pack out stadiums. We need to show the other states we can do that.

"It means a lot to the players. You know you are valued to the people if they are there. This is a great opportunity, at one-all, for families to take their children along to see history made."



He believes the pressure-cooker environment in game two was a factor in the Maroons victory that bought the series back to one-all.

"At Suncorp Stadium they were just so biased and passionate about Queensland it just blew me away. This is our chance now," Mortimer said.

"Queenslanders are saying we are complacent. Here is our chance to show them we are not."

Suncorp is such an awesome stadium cause everyone's close to the game. Getting to and from there is piss easy compared to Homebush. Homebush has no atmosphere cause everyone is WAY too far back from the game! Until they take it back to the SFS they won't get that atmosphere!!!
