Re: How rude.... from another forum..
I agree with MadKaw.
I think the antics of a couple of people over the last few months have made people overtly sensitive to jibes and digs that otherwise (and as MadKaw said - historically) wouldn't have caused any ripples.
As per Cath's thread this is a great site with great people. I think though that various member drives, or at least the membership increase whatever the cause, is a two-edged sword - the site gets more active, but at the same time you get many more personalities that can clash. And with a larger membership base you naturally get more off-topic discussions.
There was a time when I knew every active member on the site - not necessarily having met in person, but that didn't matter.
Now, I have to admit that I know only a fraction.
That does change things, and along with no longer riding regularly, that makes me less active on the site - only really contributing in threads posted by those I do know, or threads for which the subject looks interesting. Arguably I could interpret that the same way as Mr Hoff and Mr Wobbly - as the site being boring or off track as there's less I'm interested in.
I think the only thing Hoffy did 'wrong' was slightly (yes slightly, he just said he was bored FFS) bag out KSRC on another forum - the sentiment wasn't out of line, he's free to his own opinion, but some may feel slighted that he didn't say something here first. But the site owner didn't over-react, so why should anyone else?
People are overreacting here. Go to Cath's thread, enjoy the group hug, and move on.

Re: How rude.... from another forum..
I have resisted the quote button on so many levels here.
Involved and made attempts at steering the site in a new direction?....Sure have
1. Photo Comp
2. Advice - Tired of answering shit like " where can I get a clutch lever / Fairing screw / valve stem cap for my ZX.......?" Tried a kawasaki dealer Fuckhead? let alone any other motorcycle store? Cant be arsed leaving home? Try Google and buy the bloody thing online! Besides, if it is a genuine plea for help on something obscure then there is always some newbie or other no-nothing that offers up useless information that I couldn't be bothered pointing in the right direction.
3. Hands up those that have received nothing but honesty and integrity from me in the real world with no questions asked away from the forum........... I will refrain from listing those that have accepted this and shit in my face. For now.
I am a great supporter of this online club and have made alot of great acquaintances through it. But I am growing tired of it because it seems to have stagnated and although there are new people and the site is growing it is not evolving.
Sure new people should be welcomed and tolerated as they find their feet and establish themselves within the group as they bring with them their own experiences and knowledge. By the same token those that have been here since forever should not lord it over anyone else as if they are some almighty sage of all things 2 wheeled. Thats the way I see it sometimes.
I am tired of the site now because I guess it is cyclic and I may have now completed a full revolution and the subjects being posted are nothing new or noteworthy.
Armchair critic? Not really I make an effort - like Hoffy does - and my opinion is valid.
Listen to it and that of others or the site will never evolve.
Just re-read this and hovered over "submit" a bit more I could add but fuck it. Let it ride!

Re: How rude.... from another forum..
Firstly I thank you for your input..
I will also refrain from quoting posts,
but will say, you have been here for 3 years, and, as stated, in that time you suggested a photo comp and put up the prizes and that was very much appreciated..
Did that change the site... obviously not. Neither did your "controversial" spat with Hoffy, (some ppl didn't like that and may see it as a negative similar to the the things you list
I didn't mind it ).
One off efforts aren't going to change things and neither are opinions, we all know what opinions are like.
If you want change we need helpful suggestions and actions not critiques, anyone can be a critic.
Remember, the ppl here have to want to change, neither I nor you can make it happen.
Perhaps they don't even share your opinion.? Then what.?
Wave a big stick and ppl will leave.
So, as stated, instead of being critical of the site, and the ppl on it, put forward some proposals to fix it.
Based on your comments,
Would you suggest, I / we start moderating what ppl post.?
Would you suggest we warn / ban ppl for asking stupid questions.?
Perhaps ppl have to pass an intelligence quota before we let them join.?
Invitation membership only.?
Pshychiatric tests.? (you know who..
)
I'm open to suggestions and if ppl want it to change it will happen...
But theres also the possibility that most of the members don't want it to change and are happy with it... Who knows.?
Everyone - repeat after me "yes we're all individuals"
I'm really not sure what you expect me to do and I'm not sure what you want the site to evolve to. Its an online forum... thats pretty much it.
Give me a link to the site we should evolve too and I'll see what we can do.
Please remember, this site is free for everyone, free of advertising and run and paid for by me (thru merchandise sales), so grandious plans of taking over the world just aren't going to happen. I spend way to much of my time on here as it is.
My plan was and has always been to let the site run its course and the members will guide its future.. Perhaps thats not happening the way everyone wants its, but it must be suiting some ppl, cause what we have now, good or bad, has been formed by the ppl in here...
So, suggestions please..?
oh, and to everyone, please lets not take ourselves too seriously and get into hissy fit about this. We are only here to have a bit of fun and pass the time. Its not the be all and end all....
and if you don't like it the exit button is on the top right of your screen..

Well the discussion is rolling and people are now thinking.
Guaranteed those following this will now be reviewing alot more of what they type before submitting and possibly even put some conscious thought into positive ways they may be able to contribute further.
I'm off on holidays with Hoffy.
