Road is clear, basically flat and straight and in good nick, no reason it can't handle more than 100k...
yeah Mick
...cept the idiots at Pricktoads think otherwise

We have in this nanny state a most unfortunate mindset at our ruling roads board.. which has also influenced
our Police traffic Management senior supers and Ass Commissioner

They set overall policy..like 50kmh in resi street and no-one argues with that
but
will not (despite council community and other interested bodies) say we should set 40kmh in certain
areas...like strip shopping centres or around schools.. The councils who MAY have jurisdiction over some
of the side streets around schools have to power to set 40..so they do

Pricktoads also argues that ALL the speed limits are set correctly...which is BOLLOCKS
and its this that frustrates road users.....
2 glaring examples...
ride into Warburton and there are more than 30 changes in speed limits in 5 kms...
on the same 2 lane piece of road

but the worst one is Geelong Rd!!
why?
WE (yeah you and I) paid billions for a world class piece of road..built to the highest standard
one far above the Hume or Princes Freeway (which were built to allow 130km speeds)
and guess what?
Vicroads sets the speed limit at 100 ...on the basis that HIGHER SPEEDS ARE UNSAFE
and also guess what?
Geelong Road is one of the highest revenue raisers under the greed camera scheme
I wonder why...

The overall problem is that a lot of speed limits are unrealistic..too high (try 100 up the Mt Buller rd  )
or too low or too inconsistent

and the final insult.....?
The guvmint has had the nerve to tell carmakers to make safer cars
The Car makers should tell the guvmint to stick it up ya arse

cheers

Yet again another conversation that changes me from being all psyched to go out on a ride to "mmm fuck, maybe not"

stupid arse muthafugging license probation, and the thing is i have no intention of speeding, just to go cruise along and have a nice time. Yet feel its too much of a threat to my license to do so.

Well for a poor Wa rider suffering badly from corner malnutrition , I can only but dream about such things as the old road and Black Spur etc... As a poor subsitute I have to settle for YouTube to get the idea!!..

It's around about then ie"Supra on Black Spur" etc I suddenly wonder why the fark the coppers don't just leave the camera's in the boot??

They'd have all the evidence they need on Youtube!!! There would be no need to get wet and cold hiding in the bushes hunting wabbits...err motorcyclists!!
They could sit in their heated offices busting cyberwankers, drinking coffee and eating donuts!! :P

Several actually ;) It's pretty common knowledge here in Melbournia that the vast majority of people who ride the Black's & Reefton Spurs are wannabes & wankers, you only hafta go another few Ks out of the area to find even better roads... with no Cops !!!
Seriously, you'd hafta be a bit of a knob to want to go up & down 1 road all day when you know it's infested with tourists/daytrippers/sightseers, shitloads of other bikes, caravans, boats, 4X4s & concienceless, theiving pieces of uniformed shit wouldn't you?

43% of fatal accidents were motorcyclists?

Go there on a saturday or sunday and count the traffic....... I bet you will find that 80% of the traffic is motorcycles...... Hence they should be trying to get the cars since statistically they are much more dangerous.
The world is round. It has no point.

My boss lost his license a few weeks ago up the spur doing only 23ks over the limit. I thought it was 25 ks over you loose your license but must of come down again.
Also anyone cop a laser in the eye? I copped one in the eye years ago in the car when the cops first started using them and it took my concentration away for a second. I would think these lasers could be hazardous for a motorcycle rider, they are to pilots apparently.
