Tagging bikes

Post by Bluefly »

Got a question+comment about tagging. When you do a track day at PI, the Superbike School puts a white rectangular sticker on your screen with the date on it so they know you're supposed to be there when you pull up in pit lane for your session. Every time they slap it on there I seethe. It's a bugger to get off and ruins the look of the bike in photos (IMHO).

When KSRC members tag bikes, do you stick it to areas that might potentially make the bikes owner mad? If someone stuck a KSRC sticker on my petrol tank/fairing/screen/frame etc. I'd be fuming. It wouldn't bother me at all if they put it on the seat (because it's easy to peel off and doesn't leave sticky residue), back of the mirror, tyre, heel guard etc. There's a lot of bike owners out there who are really pedantic about their bikes. Should we be more aware of this? What do you guys think? [/i]

Good point Bobbi, I've tagged a few bikes but i generally just wrap it around the keybarrel (think you started this idea) I've never actually stuck a sticker to someone elses bike. You just dont mess with peoples bikes/cars, it pisses em right off, me included.
As for the sticker removal get some Goo Remover its lemon based & works a treat. I also use it to clean the chain wax off my polished rear rim.

Yeah, I hope no one is sticking the stickers to people bikes. A little bit of consideration goes a long way.

Me too, under the fuel filler tab, I would never stick them to any part of the bike and if anyone ever did that to me they would not have the use of their valdalising little fingers anymore.

Ah Yes... Please guys, Tagging is not sticking.!!

Don't peel the backing off, just leave the sticker for the owner to do what they want with it.

I don't know if any of you have tried to remove one... Its bloody hard work...:-)

I'll only give it to the owner of the bike personally.
I've only done it once, which is today! :D

nope
don't stick em ..that would be bad

I put the sticker (still on it backing paper)
under the fuel filler flap, sticking out from the seat pad
tucked between handgrip and switchblock, next to the tank mount
slid up between the instruments, tucked next to the keybarrel
or even in the hole on the mirror mount.....
lotsa places
but for gawdssakes don't stick 'em ..one easy way to piss ppl off
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

if a sticker for a forum or anything was stuck onto my bike i'd call/log onto the group up that it represented and give em a peice of my mind. if it was someone not assocuated with their group well then that sucks, but it it was a maggoty individual then i'd be expecting them to pay to get the sticker removed and any damaged finishing redone.

it may seem anal but why should i have a sticker there if i didn't want it there, and why should i have to copped a marring of my bike (scratched already or otherwise) if removing it did bork things up.
