Only time I ever got to test ride a bike for a mag it was a VFR800Vtec with ABS. It snowed the week before the test, snowed the week after the test, but was dry and very cold the day of the test. I got off an old CBR600 to test the VFR - it felt heady at low speed, but very sure footed once moving - and I quiet liked the Vtec kick.
As for the modern 600s it depends on what you want it for. Three in that group are great if you want to fang at weekends and do track days, a little uncompromising on the road. One is sporty enough for some fun and useable enough to be used every day. And that I think there's one that sits half way between those two groups.
It was a great day out, well two days out. I am also of the opinion that the new GSX-R in white looks the biz, didnt look to flash after two days riding in the rain though.
Just for the record I'd rate the Trumpy first, that engine is just a pearler, then the ZX6, and GSX-R neck-a-neck in second right on the Trumpy's heels. The R6 just has to be revved too hard to get the best out of it and the Honda doesnt do anything bad but just has no...........um...........character. I gave it a name but you'll have to wait to the article comes out to see if it gets mentioned
As for the winner of the test overall (road and track)- as you can see Rod and I have picked them in different order - as did the other testers - you'll have to read the story in AMCN
Well, Phil, Rod - let me just say you're both bastards
Even though it was wet must have been a blast, I'm not normally an amcn reader but I'll be buying that issue, hope you get a gurnsey on the litre bike comparo as well !

That was the week before, they asked me to go but couldnt due to Winton and the 600's this week.

Phil - you already have my number You don't see me test riding bikes for magazines, or flying to Germany to test ride prototype.... errr.. Sorry. I really didn't mean to bring that up again.
I've always said "It's not bout WHAT you know, but WHO you know."
Ohhhhhhh, and if you ever need to sus out how the bikes handle two-up . . . . . . . you know where to find me ! ! (I'm a great pillion: just ask me, seriously I am! lmao )
Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul.
