Winton Weekend!!

Post by Possum »

Hey all, just home from a weekend at Winton!

What an awesome blast... race day is always the most.. dummy spits, spills and great racing..

For those who didn’t know i was working in the media centre... 2nd floor.. great views of the track and race stats on hand… I met heaps of great people and got the chance to see heaps of great behinds the scene's shots.. even the nasty spill of Jamie Stauffer in his last race.. made me sick to the bone!.. taken off strapped to a stretcher…he was off bouncing down the track and his head was squashed between his own bike and that of a passing rider… last unofficial word was that he is talking… but no news on anything else.. . After the restart his brother took out the win...

Just before the end an announcement brought the house down… Someone had nicked a Harley, which was parked at the base of the control tower!!… the blue and white were called..

Oh.. and hello.gif HI to the bluey who let me off this morning .. was doing 130 in a 100 zone.. the only thing it cost me was 20 minutes and sore ear... and before you ask i was unaware of how fast i was going because i was shielding the morning sun with one hand ;) ...

I have to also say Ken Wootton (Australian Motorcycle Mag) is a funny fella, a great bloke and so hard working… All the power to him for getting out there and having a red hot go after his huge spill at PI !.... I wish him well for the next round!!

** Sorry Rob we never got to catch up - i did go down the pits to look for you today (sunday)!… hope you hav a great and safe ride home 5slick.gif

The only thing that would hav topped the weekend off would have been my Z…
It all comes down to how you ride it.....

They wouldn't have to look far. Do these things actually have a range beyond 20km's before having to be loaded onto a ute?
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.

Well, what can I say . . . . I had to post a couple of pics, as a taste of my weekend. I had an absolute blast! ! What a great track - certainly from a spectators perspective anyway, brilliant just brilliant.
Can't think of anywhere I would rather have been!! I'll post a couple more when I get the time. :D :D :D :D

Well, seen as you ask; On Friday I spent the day in the office assisting the race secretary, chasing times, selling tickets and programmes, and generally answering questions, helping riders etc etc.
I was fortunate enough to spend most of Saturday and Sunday walking around the track, and around the track, and around the track, taking pics. I only took 950 odd, as the camera batteries died on me. :x I will be taking the charger with me next time that's for sure. Despite that, I gotta say I luuurrrvvveeed it! lurved every minute of it AND I still can't take the smile off my dial. 8) 8) :D :D ;)

But . . . I can vouch for someone that was working !

I spoke to Jamie this morning, apart from sounding like he had spent the night at Dave's place  he was OK, just staying in hospital while they did some more tests.
