It's not something to dwell on, but use it keep things in perspective... this is one of the reasons i wont take pillions..
It doesnt hurt to know first aid either, you never know when you might need it.
It all comes down to how you ride it.....

I think that every rider has a bit of a moment witnessing those kinds of scenes. From my experience it is something where the last scene grates on your soul as much as the first one you ever saw... Head up, stay up.
