Definitely softer to land on, especially if it is at a convenient height 8)

I really don't understand why the police fined you. Sure you had an accident - but it's called accident for a reason. If you we're flouting a road law, then sure pay a fine. But if the incident occured due to a slip or something beyond your control (which you don't remember), how can they prove you were in the wrong? Do the police fine everyone who has a rear end shunt - or just bikes?

Go see a quack Andi better safe than sorry even if it does take a few hours, bring a book or 3 :) Sorry to hear about the stack, hope all is well with bike and indeed rider of course. Mike, my car got rear ended on Springvale rd and I never even bothered calling a copper for it... so no fines for anyone.

kellz wrote:go to the ER and take your helmet with you

you wont be waiting half a day you will be top priority as you have had a motorbike accident and have possible head injury.

im a nurse so trust me when i say that.

make sure you tell the triage nurse what happened. and show her your helmet if its scratched and that they will take you through almost straight away.
especially if you have any neck pain.
After my off @ OP where my helmet was trashed... the dude barely looked at it... and whacked the few stitches in my leg and sent me on my way..... didn't do fark all for my melon or neck... even when I mentioned that I didn't really remember what happened other than it was quick, bounced around a bit and ended up in the wall..... lazy farken doctor!

enough of me.....

Thats a bit of bad luck andi, hope it all goes well getting fixed.... or a new bike.... ;)

Oh and photomike.... there are very few 'accidents' thats why they are collision's ;) the term accident gets used incorrectly a hell of a lot.... in most cases it is someones fault.... and therefore can be avoided if paying enough attention etc... things like trees falling on you etc, now that is an accident...someone hitting you is negligent....or not paying due care.... etc etc...

Good call Swabio. We call them crashes now, not accidents. Very rarely are they a true accident.

If he's hit someone from behind then it's either following too close or inattention that's caused it.... unless the car driving bone head has just pulled out in front of him?

Thanks all for the well-wishes and especially the advise. I went to the hospital with my helmet and get checked out okay. Still quite a headache though. I'm still trying to recollect what happened. The latest I remember was rear headlight and then front lock, and then looking/hearing my glove grinding asphalt. I was definitely concious as the people asking me if I was ok (still laying down in the road) and I said give me three minutes... Weird sensation throughout the day I even managed to be on teleconference and direct people. Things are "very clear" .. is this adrenalin?

As for the fine, law etc that's allright I'll just cop it. First traffic offence/coffer contribution in Australia

I havent think what's next in my motorcycling career but it has not been too good the past 4 yrs. Rear-ended twice, crashed twice with this one, bike nudged in parking lot twice  ... part of the problem is commuting though. They all except one happened going to/from work. Mountain riding is safer 8)

Good to hear you ok javaman... a lot of thinking to do by the sound of it...
I beg to differ about mountain riding.... any form of complacency is so unforgiving up there!... and remember wombats are just realy realy dumb sheep!

Hope your not too sore.. cheers poss
It all comes down to how you ride it.....

Thanks possum. Funny enough I didn't care that much about the bike etc. Unlike my first crash where I was almost literally in tears with the scratches and broken ego . I guess if commuting is not safe, the mountain is heavily policed, and track is expensive then there is little incentive to ride.

Except for that one day when the sky is blue, birds chirping, and the wind is warm .. and I'd be kicking myself for not having a bike. 8)

if you have held a clean driving record for 10 years or more then you are eligable to fight the fine and get a warning.
