82 GPz750 gear selection?!

Ok, im used to my old GPX250, postie bikes and ZZR's... all basic one down 5 up patterns.

i get on my GPZ, which im fixing up and the pattern is not the same. how does it go?

basically at the moment it hits neutral by clicking up until it stops... (unless it has a DAMN good neutral finder)

and it felt like all downs ... although i did shift down by clicking down... i dont know explanation please ?

1 up 4 down or all 5 up?

Either 1st gear is missing and it's going 2nd-5th or perhaps more likely, the shift mechanism has been reversed by either you or someone else. Race pattern on ya 7fiddie hey!!!

well i selected first gear.... so im assuming somehow it could be reversed.
