To be heard or not to be heard

Post by kermitzx9r »

Hi guys and gals, I am starting to get a little worried about a rumour I heard the other day in regards to the boys in blue and the EPA testing bikes in the Penrith area  when are they going to start going after real crims and stop targetting the average joe about how noisy his or her bike is and stop handing out a fine of $400-00 for non compliance... :x this is starting to sound like herrasment to me and it's bad enough that I get pulled over every time I take my bike out and now they want the Muzzy can gone aswell bduh.gif
What are you feelings about this....

It's easier to book riders than arrest dirtbags. If they find real criminals and charge them, they are much harder to deal with as they have no respect and are usually violent, and they don't have the coin to pay fines etc as they are unemployed no-hopers (sp?). Bike riders are a lot easier to catch as they are more compliant and are a much better source of revenue. :?

I see your point but it just pisses me of that we are the target of some easy revenue :x

Can you get booked over "there" for a non compliant exhaust out on the street? How do they know it doesn't comply... we have had a similar spate of attacks around fender eliminaters here in Perth.. many a person stickered and forced to go over the pits at a cost around $50... but at least you can put the original kit back on (presumably) and it is normally all OK... the complaint over here is also based around the fact that if the cops can't ping you for something like speeding etc then the fall back on giving you a sticker just because they can and it doesn't matter if it is legit or not... sounds like a similar thing going on over there... but surely they are not in a position to determine if your exhaust complies or not and therefore whack you with a $400 fine!!!

Loud exhausts are pretty bloody annoying when you're not the one riding. Start with those obnoxious POS Harleys.
Don't try to justify it with some "loud pipes save lives" crap because it's not true.

Ok I wasn't going down that path because I agree with you about the whole Harly thing, but I would rather hear my bike as noisy as it is than leave the stock can on and have it sound like a vaccum on blow

basically if the boys in blue say your to loud then you are to loud and most of the time they have the EPA with them to run the test...

No idea what the current situ is in NSW with noise and compliance etc, probably best to contact the MCCofNSW in regards, read about it here http://www.mccofnsw.org.au/a/174.html
