I had a fully shick boy tell me a while ago that he gets 300 at EC and he had his speedo adjusted so that it was for real mate.

So mate those radar fings are bullshit mate.......

I don't think I've ever looked at my speedo at the business end of the straight, by that point I'm going Shit, shit, shit, shit....... from the above I'd guess most mortals on a 1000 would be doing about 250

I checked my speedohealer top speed recall after the Dec track day and it showed 250km/h. It is fairly accurate, although I suspect the taller Rennsports might've meant it was underestimating slightly by a couple of kays. No way I had any time to have a look at the speedo except maybe a quick glance halfway through turn one.

Yep there from the ASC round the other week..

I had a bike speedo on my zx9r, they are supposed to be accurate up to 300 kph. The highest recorded speed that had was about 265 from memory.... probly close, if a bit high, as I was lapping similar to the slower FX guys..

Could differing top speeds be down to gearing?

I've not been to Ec, so don't know what lenght the main straight is, nor do I have any idea what entry and exit corners are like. To that end, I don't know what the rest of the track is like either - and here's my point (eventually). If the track is majoritivly open sweepers, I might be inclined to opt for a higher gear ratio, allowing me to maximise the corners, but on the straight I may sacrifice a bit of top end speed (not enough grunt to max out in 6th). Or, if the whole track is really tight twisties, I might opt for a lower ratio to get better traction, but again I will rev out without hitting top end usually seen on standard gearing.

Picking a gear ratio is a compromise between different sections of the track, and may result in being slower in 1 point, but faster in a whole bunch of others.

I remember a guy in the UK boasting that his apex speed on one turn at Donington was higher than Jamie Schaffer or some other high profile rider. But when measured against the pro rider, the boaster was slower from entry to exit because his high apex speed compromised the whole corner line.

So, would it be possible to run a shit line through the last corner of EC, hit 285 on the straight and over cook turn 1? Perhaps some people's ZX9s have more mid range than world superbikes.

Thinking some poor bastard did that in the last ASB at the creek the other week, 285 down the straight and 275 into the 5 rows of tires at the entry to turn 1. The he end up in the ambo's and the bike ended up in the fence 10m away
