What is it with fake claims about second hand bikes?
I have looked at 3 second hand bikes in as many weeks, and have travelled many hours to go and look at them after work because the people who are selling the bikes have told me “it’s immaculate, you wont find a mark on it”.
The bikes I looked at were a ZXR, and 2 KR1s, yes, old bikes, but hey all had less that 20k on the clock, one would not expect them to be like new due to their age, but immaculate is the next down from new, so one would think it must be near new!
For all three bike I rang the owner and ask specifically if they were damaged in anyway, had any marks or dints on them, been dropped etc etc, I said they are for collecting, they all said no mate there immaculate, if you find a mark on them you’d be lucky…..great I said to myself, how lucky would I be to find a bike so immaculate!
To cut a long story short, all three bikes were dropped, the ZXR had done more than what was on the clock (think i'm stupid), it had clear silicone where a gasket should have been, one KR1 along with it's damaged muffler, fairing and mirror and powervalves had stuffed shocks, the other KR1 sounded like puffing Billy, was resprayed as the whole upper fairing had a massive repair job done to it and the taco didn’t work…..
Its also funny (for lack of a better word) that they start to own up once you pick up faults "oh yeah I repainted that" "oh yeah I think the last owner must of dropped it" or " never had seen that massive big scrap mark down the side"
Fuck me, if they call these bike immaculate, my 90 year great great grand mother must look like Pamela Anderson to them. Dealers are just as bad!
Here is a bit of a guide add more to this list to see how may levels there are
Immaculate/pristine – is almost new, no marks or dints
Good Condition – Mechanically good, maybe some lightmarks/scratches
OK – gets you from A to B
Fucked – fucked, good as a spare (just)
Has anyone else had the same problem???
By the way, I'm having a FIRE sale....below is my bike for sale, it's immaculate.....

Re: Second Hand Bikes
I once wasted a Sunday arvo to look at a 9 that had been dropped and had the damaged frame covered up with little squares of some cf looking material,it was a pile of junk but it was 'immaculate'.

Re: Second Hand Bikes
I drove down to Frankston from up here (about two hours) with the then-wife and kids to look at an 'immaculate' GPX750R with 'very low km' at some wanker dealership. Told the guy where I was coming from, what time I'd be there and what I wanted to look at. Got there on time, no sales guy, completely ignored by the other wankers and the bike was a POS. I reckon the speedo was on it's second time around, every piece of exposed metal/nut/bolt/screw was rusty. Plastics were crazed from sitting outside 24/7, screen fogged, seat brittle, tyres just legal.
Immaculate my arse
.
Sat there for thirty minutes, was completely ignored, drove home another two hours. Bunch of farkers. Never again.
I think they were a dealer one of our members had very bad dealings with (Rob?) years ago. Dropped his bike in the shop and wouldn't fix it properly.

Re: Second Hand Bikes
swapped the blade for the zx12r
guy tried to tell me zx12s new are worth 28 thousand dollars. just had it serviced he says. awesome tyres front and back.
rode to melbourne from Newcastle on the blade for the swap.
got there it started first go and rode straight , good enough for me.
the whole time this guys trying to tell me the dunlop sportmax's on it are $700 a set. these bikes are rare. how much of an awesome deal im getting.
riding it home i stop for petrol about 40kms away from the pickup point. go to restart it and nothing...... f*ck. rang the guy up. no answer. rang again he cancelled the call. clutch started it and got going. then about 60kms from Albury get pulled over for a random breath test. very nice policeman very polite i explain ive just picked the bike up and show him the receipt and rego papers etc. he does a check. the bike isnt stolen or anything bad but the name on the receipt and rego papers isnt the name the bikes registered in.
clutch started the bike every petrol stop from melbourne to newcaslte.
took it to kwaka newcastle for a service.
air filter looks like its the original (making it 39 000kms old) and disgustingly filthy.
oil looks like its 20 000km old
spark plugs farked
chain farked
battery dead - like cant even clutch start it dead
shims tight as.
$900 later its going nice but still have to replace the chain.
also did a revs check on the blade i swapped him and found out its a repairable write off. so i felt a little better
this farker also wants me to send him the stock exhaust system for the blade. dreaming.
RTA didnt care about the discrepancy and its now registered in my name.
