Carbie Tuning
hey guys,
I want to give my bike a bit of a mini service, done the fluids and what not, but since my father decided to pull the carbies out to clean them, the bike hasnt been the same. It used to have problems starting when cold, would need full choke and then still struggle to start. some minor tweaking of the idle screw between the 2 carbies seems to have fixed it.
I still want to get them tuned properly...
I was reading a mag and i saw this
http://www.motohansa.com.au/carbmate.htm
and was wondering if anyone in Syd would have one that i may borrow or use for a small fee/beer
i dont want to buy one as money is tight and i probably wont see myself using it again in a while, also i dont want to take it to a mechanic to get it done because they will charge through the roof on labour.
I got quoted $900 for a full service, and the guy said that the main charge was labour about $700 of it anyway...

A set of mercury gauges will do the same thing for not much coin. I have seen them for as little as $40 in places. Have a sniff around for a set, you might find some 2nd hand somewhere.

A stick, nails, plastic tubing, bulldog clips (for damping) and ATF will do the job with more sensitivity than mercury gauges. Drawback is that my setup is about 2 m tall, but it is made from stuff I already had and it's free.

I'll take a photo tonight. I've also made a combined clutch and flywheel holding tool. Very satisfying although I'd never pay for something that crudeGosling1 wrote: Nice work - got any pictures ?? Home-made tools are *always* the best tools.
